WARNING:// SHORT CHAPTER AND I SKIP AROUND A LOT

Vanessa

Despite Gabriel's warning as soon as he was asleep I finished packing and lifted the suitcase. I took one last look at him sleeping in our bed. No. Not our bed. He was better off without someone like me in his life. A commoner. As far as everything he had said to me there was a simple explanation for that. He was drunk. People say some ridiculous things when intoxicated.
I turned away from the man who had completely changed my life, dragging the suitcase with me. I would most likely never see Gabriel Arlo ever again.

Gabriel

My head hurt so bad. God, how much did I drink last night? I woke and rolled over to touch my Vanessa, but she wasn't here. I looked up, groggily and rubbed my eyes. Maybe she was in the bathroom? I got up and found the bathroom empty. My head was pounding and I could barely think. Where had she put her suit case? Under the bed maybe? I looked and it was gone. Oh, no! Oh, God! She was gone! She left! I began to breathe heavier, calling an emergency Family meeting. I had to stop her!

Vanessa

I had managed to get a new apartment and no one came to get me so I guess that intoxicated Gabriel was wrong. I had no idea why I believed that he was in the Mafia. As I was putting away my things there was a knock on the door. I wasn't expecting anyone. I looked out the peephole and saw a tall dark man with sunglasses and a suit on. Oh, God. I grabbed my phone and ran to the window getting out and on to the ladder that went all he way to the ground. As my feet hit the pavement I heard the breaking of the wooden door of my apartment. I hailed a taxi as fast as possible and told them where I wanted to go. The only place I could go.

Unknown

"She isn't here."

"Are you kidding me?!"

"She isn't here!"

"Well, find her!"

I sighed and hung up. He can be over barring sometimes. I looked out the open window that she has climbed out of. Where did she go? How could she just disappear like that? I knew one thing was for sure. Gabriel Arlo didn't just choose a random woman to have his heir. He chose a smart one.

Gabriel

My heart was pounding. I couldn't find her. I drove up to the apartment that she had rented and went up the steps, determined to set things straight, but what I saw shocked me. The door was kicked down with wood splinters scattered around the floor. The window was open and I felt my heart clench at the sight of torn curtains, broken glass and a note on the wall.

She may have got away, but we'll find her.

I knew very well who had been here. Alejandro's men. I drove back to the house in a rage. At least she got away, but now I had to find her before he did. I entered and put my coat on the rack and my eyes widened at the familiar laughter coming from the kitchen. I raced to the source of the wonderful sound and smiled at what I thought was just a dream.

"Vanessa?"

A little bit short, but at least it didn't end in a terrible cliffhanger, right?
