Blake was sitting in her adopted father's office, her glare as sharp as daggers. Her long, dark hair trails over her shoulders as she slouches in her seat. Her skin was as white as snow, and her yellow eyes shimmered in the light of the lantern on Kaien's oak desktop. She was as tense as a deer waiting for the kill.
A wave of silence passes over the two of them, and for about ten minutes both the humans sit in total silence though aware of one another's presence. Kaien, as always, was the first to speak.
"Listen, Blake," Kaien starts, strikingly serious. His hair was barely graying at the roots. "You're fifteen now and I think you can handle going to Cross Academy now. You've lived here at Cross Academy all your life. Now all I'm asking is that you get out there. Go attend school. Meet new people and things."
"..I...I," Blake whispers angrily. She then sighs, relaxing. "I guess your right, Dad.."
Blake gulps down the feeling of terror crawling up her fragile spine.
Something was coming. And Blake was not in the least bit prepared.
