a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

-romeo and juliet,
   william shakespeare

but a rose by any other name would be as hard to love. underneath its soft blush that glows in dawn's dewy light there is nothing marvellous. a rose is a solitary creature, so it grows thorns to keep others away. for years we have paraded red roses at proms and formals but they are not love, only rocky relationships. as peresphone might tell you, leave beauty where it flourishes, because holding on to it may hurt a little more than you expect.
