Bluebird (Naruto Fanfiction)

Part One: 1, squad 8

Chapter One ;

*Gaara's Perspective*

A bead of sweat trickled down my eyebrow as I was training with my most successful students. Aiko, Kiyomi and Minyo Akimoto, the last members of the Akimoto clan. The Akimoto clan was a big part of the Hidden Sands defence team, they hold a powerful jutsu that in the wrong hands could be catastrophic.

The Akimoto massacre took place 5 years ago, when Aiko, Kiyomi and Minyo were only 11. Just months ago they came to me for more intense training even though they've become chunin last year, they know the burden that comes with their power and are serious about protecting it. I feel a connection to these students, considering I had my own hardship to overcome. The only difference between my students and I, is that I had the sand to protect me, they do not. They have to be able to defend themselves, as much as I wish I could protect them every single second of the day, but because I am the Kazekage my duty is to protect everyone and that tends to get busy.

With my thoughts distracting me, I took a step back while they carried on sparring. Although Aiko, Minyo and Kiyomi are cousins they look very different and possess different qualities. Aiko has long wavy maroon hair that cascades over her shoulder. Her eyes are bright mint green and her face is dotted with freckles over her delicate pale features, she's average height and has a curvy figure.

Then we have Kiyomi who is short and fierce, her long hair that was grey but tinted with purple that creates a mysterious look , as it's pushed away from her face and rests against her back . Her big deep blue eyes added a gentleness that isn't always shown through her actions. But she had many other great qualities. Her short but shaped figure was also easily noticed.

Minyo on the other hand had black hair with stunning amber eyes and tan skin. He was tall and muscular but often sported a disinterested expression but had a soft side for his cousins. Even though he wouldn't admit to it, he is a gentle person.

I smiled, looking at my students like a proud father. I saw they were beginning to look tired, they were probably close to their chakra limits.

"Okay guys, why don't we take a break? We can eat something" I said with an unintentional sternness that caused the girls to giggle and a soft grunt of approval from Minyo.

*Aiko's Perspective*

Gaara sensei said we could take a break and go out to eat, hopefully it's his treat because I spent all my money when I lost a bet with Minyo and had to buy him a fancy new shuriken.

"What are we gonna eat?" Kiyomi asked with a pout probably hinting that she wanted to go to her favourite barbecue restaurant.

"Anything but pork again, you always make us go there" Minyo whined.

"I want dumplings please" I said and was ignored due to not saying it loud enough. They continued arguing about pork. "CAN WE HAVE DUMPLINGS PLEASE" I practically screamed.

They all stopped and Gaara sensei ruffled my hair then said

"This time we can get dumplings" with a smile and his attractive raspy voice. I smiled contently and laughed at Kiyomi's disappointed look, while Minyo seemed like he couldn't care less.

"Sensei when are you gonna teach us a new jutsu , I want to be stronger " I asked impatiently.

"I wanna know what chakra nature we have sensei, can we figure that out soon" Kiyomi whined with a playful hit on sensei's arm.

"Would you two have some respect for Gaara sensei's way of teaching. I swear you two have no patience" Minyo said rolling his eyes.

"Minyo shut up you're just mad because it takes you twice as long to learn a jutsu than us" Kiyomi said rudely. By now sensei was used to our bickering, I know deep down he finds our childish arguments entertaining.

"Okay that's enough you guys" Gaara said, trying to look intimidating. By now we could tell when he was or wasn't being serious, so this had no effect on us. We all laughed at him, which caused him to shake his head and continue on our path to the dumpling shop.

Kiyomi dropped her headband which made us stop while she bent down to get it. In that moment of distraction a sudden "BOOM" was heard. Before I could blink Gaara had enveloped us in his dome sand shield.

"Everyone stay on guard"He said with a now serious look.

"Well, well what do we have here" A man said as he came into sight, he was on a awkward looking white bird, he had yellow hair which was tied. He was wearing a familiar looking cloak that gave me this unpleasant feeling in my stomach.

"What business do have in our village" Gaara asked in a tone that made me think twice about ever getting him mad. Then another man emerged from the one who was already in front of us,he had black spiky hair and wore a weird orange swirly mask and as soon as he spoke I wanted to murder him. His voice was so high pitched and irritating.

"Go Deidara , go tell them,tell them!" he screamed while bouncing on the weird bird.

"Be quiet Tobi,you're so annoying" Deidara snapped. He then focused his attention on to Kiyomi, Minyo and I. "I'm here for these little brats" He announced with a sly grin.

"What could you lowlifes possibly want from us" Minyo challenged them.

"Gaara, you came back from the dead to babysit these punks? How about I take them off your hands" He said , "Coincidentally, they would be some use to me and my friends, ain't that right Tobi?" He provoked.

"Oh yes Deidara, we want their forbidden jutsu. Darn right we do!" He giggled. Gaara immediately stepped in front of us.

"Sensei stop it!"Kiyomi screamed, I pulled her back knowing there was no other option.

"This battle is now between us two" Gaara proclaimed protectively.

"Oh great, your students can watch me kill you for a second time" Deidara taunted. It took me a moment to decide whether or not I should interfere, but I chose to see how Gaara will handle the situation.

"Well what are you waiting for?" Gaara stated challengingly.

Authors Note;

Hey guys, hope you enjoyed our first chapter. Most of it was character introductions and to give a feel of the characters bonds.

We would just like to repeat that we are not going exactly by the naruto plot, we are however using most of the naruto characters but some of the crazy events that take place in the show will not be taking place now. So if your not far into Naruto there shouldn't be all that many spoils. Let us know what you thought about our first chapter, chapter two and three should be out with in the next few days.
