Brantley's Pov
They say time heals the soul, if that is true I'll like to meet the man that said it and kill him for everyone. Now yes, time is good for everyone, but not a whole year of time. This was the hardest thing that I ever had to do, but I think I needed it. One year to try to fix me. 6 months of physical therapy on my body. 6 months of talking to a physiologist about my life, my personal life and in some way it was the best thing that I've ever did.
I just walked into my apartment for my 4 mile run. Tonight I'm going to get my kids for a whole week. When I was in rehab trying to get better I didn't talk nor did I see my kids for 2 months. That was hell for me. Plus I know that they was thinking the same thing.
I walked into the shower and was letting the hot water wash my sweaty, dirty body away. When I was talking to Dr. Seeker I learned a hell of a lot more about me as a man, as a father, and as a husband that I needed to know.
I'm not going to lie to you, the first month being away was hell. If it wasn't for my mama, Colby and Todd I don't think I could had made it. But I'm back to my old self again and I feel a lot better. I have a new tour coming out in the summer of 2021. It's going to be me, Jason Aldean, Justin Moore and we are calling it 'Ride With The Boys'. I can't wait. I'm going to have my kids with me and in some way it's what I need.
I just got out of the shower and I pulled my boxers on and walked into the bedroom to get dress. When I walked in I saw a i a miss call. I looked and it and it was from Asa. I smiled at the pic of Asa and his buddies on the football team.
I can't believe how much he changed over the past year. He's only 16 and already 5'11, weights right at 201, and still the best big brother you could ever ask for. I opened up and call and listen to the voicemail that Asa left me. I had to pick them up at the house at 3. I looked over at the clock and it's only 1 right now.
After I got dressed, I walked out of the apartment and got in my truck. I'm going to go over to the house a little bit early so my wife and I can talk. Over the past year Violet and I haven't really talked that much. I just want to cheek on her and see hows she doing.
I got in my truck and pulled out of the parking lot and was heading to my old house. I was only living 10 miles away from the old house, but it might as well been on the other side of the country with all the hell I went through.
I just pulled up to my old house. I looked around and I saw Asa was here. 8 Months ago when Asa turned 16 I got him a 2011 pick up truck for him. I told him I'll pay for the insurance for it, but he needed to get a job to pay for gas. Well, let's just say Asa works 4 days a week at our local movie store.
I got out of my truck and walked up to the front door. I was about to knock when I heard Violet yell for me to come on in. I took a deep breath before I walked in. It's been 2 months since the last time I got to see Violet.
" Hey Brantley. Is it already 3." Violet asked me. I looked at her and she is still breath taking to me. She is wearing her jean shorts and one of my old shirts. I smiled at her. God, I've missed tis woman so much.
" No, no, no not yet. But I wanted to talk to you. If that's okay." I asked her. Violet looked up at me and smiled.
" Sure. You want a soda, tea, water." Violet asked me.
" You made the tea." I asked her. Between her cooking and her tea, I was the happiest man alive. She is one in a million.
" You know it." Violet said to me.
" I'll have that please." I asked her. Violet got me some of her sweet tea and we both sat down at the kitchen table.
" So how are you doing Brantley?" Vi asked me. I smiled at her.
