When Godzilla and the others got back to the island, they were met with a surprise. A large boat had been parked at the dock. Godzilla parked at the other side of the dock, and stepped out onto it. He looked at the larger boat and raised an eyebrow. It belonged to the military. He had seen enough military boats to recognize one.
"Any idea what this is about?" He asked.
"Not really... wait, that logo looks familiar." Rodan mentioned. Godzilla looked at the logo in question on the side of the hull. It was a silver shield an eagle and star on it. Godzilla immediately recognized the logo as the emblem for the Pan-Pacific Defence Force, which was the government alliance behind the Jaeger program.
"This boat belongs to the Jaegers." Godzilla muttered. Immediately, worry gripped his thoughts.
"What are they doing here?" Anguirus asked. "Do you think Cherno is back?" He seemed excited at the chance to see her again.
Without answering, Godzilla bolted off the dock and onto the island, making his way to the forest, where his and Mothra's tent was. Something about all this seemed wrong. Anguirus and Rodan followed him. They started to share his worry of the situation. When they reached the tent, Godzilla was met with another surprise. Two Jaegers were outside the tent, along with Jet. Battra, Baragon, Zilla, Komi, and Leo were in handcuffs, and it appeared that Mothra was being taken out of the tent, also in handcuffs. Another Jaeger was leading her out of the tent. Godzilla immediately recognized him by his blue armour. This was Gypsy Danger, the leader of the Jaegers. Godzilla ran over to Jet. Obviously, he had some questions for him.
"Jet, what the hell is going on?" He ordered. The look on Jet's face showed that he was dreading this moment. He seemed apologetic.
"This is out of my control now." Jet replied. "I'm sorry."
"What are you talking about?" Godzilla asked. He quickly turned around, and saw that Rodan and Anguirus were also being put in handcuffs by the other Jaegers. The one with Anguirus was Cherno Alpha from before, but the one with Rodan was another one Godzilla hadn't seen before. This was Striker Eureka. Godzilla turned back around, only to see Gypsy Danger in front of him.
"Godzilla, by order of the Pan Pacific Defence Force," He began, "you and all other Kaiju on Monster Island are under arrest."
The words stuck in Godzilla's mind. There was no way this was happening. He looked to Jet, who could only shake his head sadly. He looked to Anguirus and Rodan, who were trying and failing to fight against their shackles. Then he looked to Mothra. The way she looked at him, silently pleading for an answer he didn't have, was heartbreaking. He couldn't look at her for much longer. Instead, he had to turn back to Gypsy.
"Why exactly are we getting arrested?" He asked. "I'm pretty sure we just helped your Jaegers capture some Kaiju from the breach."
"Well, now we've been given orders to arrest all Kaiju, not just the ones from the breach." Gypsy explained. "I realize how hard this must be to understand. We're only going to keep you at the Shatterdome until we can figure out how to close the breach."
Godzilla clenched his fists in anger. Despite Gypsy's slight assurance, he didn't seem extremely apologetic. Godzilla desperately wanted to argue with Gypsy, but he knew it wouldn't do any good. Finally, he did the one thing he had promised himself he would never do; he gave up.
"Fine." He said through clenched teeth. It was an hour since Godzilla and the others left the island. Since they were stuck on a boat, there was now no need for handcuffs. Some of the Jaegers were also there, holding their weapons to keep the Kaiju in check in the event that one of them would try to escape. Everyone knew this probably wouldn't happen, though. Godzilla sighed as he slouched over in his seat. Getting his entire army arrested had driven him to near depression. Mothra, who was sitting next to him, placed a hand on his back reassuringly.
"It's not your fault." She said. "There was nothing you could have done." Godzilla looked up at her. Even her slightly sad smile couldn't cheer him up like it usually did.
"I could have done something." He said, his voice carrying a mixture of sadness and anger. "I could have stopped this from happening. But I didn't. I just gave up on my whole army. What kind of leader am I?"
"Godzilla, don't talk like that." Mothra said. "Please, don't blame yourself."
"I have to disagree with you, sister." Battra spoke up. He was sitting across from them. "We wouldn't be in this mess if Godzilla had decided to grow some courage for once."
Mothra glared at her brother. "We would have gotten arrested either way." She snapped.
"She's right, Battra." Leo, their older brother, agreed. "Godzilla isn't to blame for this."
Godzilla chose not to respond while the others argued. It didn't make him feel any better or worse. He already felt terrible. Mothra noticed this, and resumed trying to comfort him.
"Try to focus on the positives." She advised. "We'll get to see Muto again."
This fact actually made Godzilla smile. He really did miss Muto. Nearly everybody on the island did. It had been a few months since she had been arrested. If there was one good thing about this, it was that Godzilla would get to see her again. Meanwhile, Anguirus was focused on something else. He was trying, and failing, to make conversation with Cherno. She was sitting next to him, holding her gun. She was quickly getting tired of Anguirus, but she couldn't shoot him until he did something actually wrong. And asking annoying questions didn't count.
"So, you're from Russia, right?" Was one question Anguirus asked her. She glanced at him briefly, but kept her gaze on the window.
"Born and raised." She replied. "Siberia, specifically."
"Really? I know a few people from Siberia." Anguirus said. "Do you know a Kaiju named Varan?"
"No. I do not associate myself with Kaiju." Cherno said, sneering slightly.
"Would you ever consider... dating a Kaiju?" Anguirus asked. It was almost as if he was trying to sound cool or suave. Cherno looked at him with a surprised expression at first, which softened into a smug smile.
"Нет шансов в гребаный ад, тупица." She said. Obviously, she was fluent in Russian. She looked back to the window, silently laughing to herself. Anguirus raised an eyebrow, confused as to why she felt the need to speak a different language. He turned to Mothra, who he knew could speak most languages, including Russian.
"Uh... what did she say?" He asked.
"She said she's not interested." Mothra lied. She didn't want to repeat exactly what Cherno had said, since she didn't like using profanity. Suddenly, the boat stopped. Gypsy and the other Jaegers stood up.
"We're here." Now it was Striker Eureka who spoke. After replacing the handcuffs, he and the other Jaegers lead Godzilla and everyone else off the boat. Godzilla hesitated slightly, which made Cherno jab him in the back with her gun. This made him start walking, but it also made him angrier. He fought the urge to turn around and attack Cherno for jabbing him. Right now, he just didn't want to start any conflict. Once everyone was off the boat, they found themselves on the loading dock of the Shatterdome. All around them were the harsh waves of the ocean. The Jaegers lead them from the loading dock into a large elevator. Cherno ushered everyone onto the elevator platform.
"All clear." She nodded once she was sure everyone was on. Gypsy nodded back, and they began to lower. As they descended the elevator shaft, Gypsy held up his arm and activated the handheld computer and holographic screen on it. The screen showed all the cell blocks in the Shatterdome, and the Kaiju they were assigned to.
"Since this elevator ride is going to take a while, I'm just going to tell you which cells you're going to be staying in." He explained. Then, he began to read off the list. "Godzilla, you're going to cell 2-13. Mothra, cell 5-18."
Godzilla and Mothra glanced at each other, disappointed that they weren't going to be sharing a cell. Godzilla wasn't too upset, as he sort of figured this would happen. Plus, he was already pretty upset over the whole situation. Gypsy continued to read.
"Anguirus and Rodan, cell 8-13." As he read this, Rodan and Anguirus tried to high-five, though because they were wearing handcuffs, they just fist bumped instead. Again, Gypsy continued listing off names and cell blocks until he got through the list.
"Alright, any questions?" He asked. Godzilla turned to face him.
"Yeah, I got one." He said. "Which cell is Muto in?"
"We're not allowed to divulge the cell numbers of other prisoners." Gypsy explained, but he saw the disappointment on Godzilla's face. Gypsy figured he and the other Kaiju had just been through a lot, so giving them even a small amount of assurance wouldn't hurt.
"But since I know her history with you all, she's in cell 2-13." He continued.
Cherno glared at him. They seriously were not allowed to divulge that sort of information. In response, Gypsy only shrugged. Cherno rolled her eyes in annoyance and looked back foreword again. Godzilla smiled, though weakly. The thought of seeing Muto again really did cheer him up.(Author's Note: Okay, a few things. One, I'm uploading chapters every day now instead of ever two days.
