'Yaar, Fatto! What took you so long to pick up' she says from the other side sounding angry.
'I am sorry, sorry' I say. I had to leave the pub and pick her call, if I missed her call then she will throw her hockey stick from India and will hit me here right on my bum. Back in school Elham was captain of our hockey team, she always had come to my rescue with her hockey stick.
'Duuude... did you get any hot chick?' Elham whispers, it's early morning there at her place and she doesn't want to be caught talking embarrassing things.
'Elham, yaar I need your help.' I say
I then say Rachel is here and I am getting nervous to even talk to her, but I want to. It's been three years I have been loving her from far, now I want to take a step. Elham knows about Rachel, in fact she is the first one to who I had said about Rachel. If I hadn't told her first, then I would be welcoming flying hockey stick, again.
Elham advised me and I feel little confident. I take a deep breath. Elham asked me to be confident even though I am scared from inside, girls love confident men and not stammering trembling fatto, like me. Why does she always have to remind me that I am a fatto? I will prove her otherwise; I will prove my friends wrong. Tonight, I will talk to Racheal.
I adjusted my collar and take a deep breath and stand beside her. Racheal is now sitting on the leather sofa chatting with her gang. There are three boys and one girl in her gang, I am not liking the guys.
I don't know them; they don't work at our office. I glance at my friends who are watching me closely.
'H...he...' I mentally slap myself. She keeps chatting to her friends oblivious to the fact that I am standing there, by voice was inaudible to her thanks to the loud music.
'Racheal' I say slightly louder; she turns around and finally sees me. I smile at her. She looks at me for a while as though thinking hard to recognize me.
'I am Juwaid, I work with you at Adams consulting firm.' I say. I feel slightly offended that she doesn't recognize me even though my world revolves around her.
She frowns and then smiles 'You are the same at whom Adams was screaming today morning' she says and chuckles.
Great! Juwaid, you always manage to get insulted. I smiled awkwardly at her not knowing if I should be happy that she recognized me or should I be upset that she recollected me from today's incident.
'Racheal would you like to dance with me?' I ask trying to sound bold but I am sure I sounded like a goat.
Racheal looks at me for few seconds, her friends nudges her to go with me. I stand there trying to look confident, I wanted to so badly disappear from here but now that I have taken the plunge I better go through this. It's too late to back out now.
'Sure' she says and I am shocked. She stands up and forwards her hand, I take her hand. When our palms touched, I felt a strange tingly feeling in my arm. After the initial shock sinks in, I begin to panic as I take her to the dance floor. I looked at her, she is smiling at me. Am I dreaming? The most gorgeous girl with me. We stand on the dance floor, there are so many people around us but I don't bother with them, for me only Racheal exists. I don't know how to dance but I follow Racheal. God! She is so beautiful. Soon we begin to move to the tune of the music. As per Elham's advise I try my best to look into Racheal's eyes, to my surprise she is looking at me. Very cleverly I pinched myself to make sure I am not dreaming. Fortunately, I am not.
I am surprised when Racheal wraps her arms around my neck. I look at her, she is looking at me. I am proud that she hasn't once moved her gaze from me.
