Lyndsey's POV:

I looked at the clock and realized how late it was; 1 a.m to be exact. I stood up and stretched my back while I yawned. Wishing I could play all night, I turned off the television and Xbox with a frown. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, they found their way to Val's closed door. She had barely spoken to me for the remainder of the night. As to why, though, I wasn't sure...

-Flash back to earlier that night-

"Girlfriend?" She asked, quizzically. I raised a brow as I noted the confused look upon her face.

"Yes. I wasn't kidding when I told you that I liked girls." I laughed lightly as I noticed how shy she looked. When my eyes fell back on Emalie, my heart fell as well as my smile. "That was years ago, though." I added, looking back at the girl before me.

"What happened?" Valerie asked curiously.

"She left me." A familiar voice chimed in. We looked over in unison to see Emalie smiling sadly towards me. "We were childhood best friends... but then, we became lovers when we were like, what? 15, Lyn? After about a year of being together...I awoke to find that she left me for a career here in America." She said with a tone I couldn't register. 'That was only half true....' I thought inwardly as I looked between the two of them giving a quick nod in agreement to avoid any further probing.

"Ah..." Was all Valerie said. I watched her closely, noticing she was clearly uncomfortable. I frowned as I looked back up to Emalie. The look on her face told me she must have noticed the tension, as well.

"Well, anyway..." She laughed, awkwardly. "I want to see you again, if that's okay with your new love, of course." Emalie smiled towards Valerie

"We are not dating." She said matter of fact.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Emalie frowned as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other. I couldn't help but frown, too. Not fully understanding why what she had said, made me feel hurt. I was brought out of reverie by a man calling my old loves' name. "Well, we have to cut this short now." She frowned, again. She pulled out her sharpie, grabbed my hand and wrote down what I quickly guessed was her phone number. "Please, text or call me, Lyndsey... I've missed you..." She smiled, though it seemed distraught. She gave a small smile over to Valerie before leaving our table.

"I can't believe she's actually living here..." I said barely above a whisper. I glanced at Valerie, noticing she was looking at her phone. "You okay?" I asked

"Yeah." I raised my brows at how hollow her voice sounded.

"What's the matter?" I asked, completely confused now. She gave me a smile that didn't reach her eyes, before shaking her head.

"It's really nothing. I'm happy that you guys found each other, though. What are the chances?" I couldn't pinpoint her mood at all and that annoyed my like crazy.

"Yeah, pretty crazy... honestly." I answered with a smile. It really was by the oddest circumstances though. She was my childhood best friend.... My first love. How in the world did she just so happen to be in the same place as me at this time in my life?

"Do you love her?" I was taken aback by the question.

"I mean, that's a loaded question, isn't it?" Valerie was fidgeting in her seat. She ran a hand through her hair, her eyes adverting mine. My head hurt trying to figure this girl out.
