AFTON'S POV

"Hey. Haven't seen you in a while." My best friend Dana said.

I rolled my eyes and shut my locker. "It's only been two periods." I said.

"That's too long!" He joked.

I got in step with him as we walked to lunch together.

"Hello beautiful." My boyfriend Chris said coming up to me and hugging me from behind. "Still walking with this loser?" He said motioning to Dana.

"Chris stop." I said. There's always been this thing with him and Dana. I don't know what it is and neither of them will talk about it.

"I'm leaving now. See you around A." Dana said turning around and walking the other way out of the cafeteria.

"Why are you such a jerk to him?" I asked Chris once we found our seat.

"People like him don't hang out with people like us."

"What do you mean?" I asked furrowing my brows. I looked at him waiting for his response.

"Look. I just mean. He seems.... I don't know... a little gay. He's in that band and he sings and dances."

"Look he's not gay!" I yelled. Some kids turned to look at me. I lowered my voice. "If a boy sings and dances it just makes them ten times cuter. I  can't be with someone who doesn't appreciate that."

I got up and ran out of the cafeteria to find Dana. I heard Chris calling my nam and he was coming f=after me but I just kept going. I found Dana in the study hall doing a couple of beats.

"Shouldn't you be with your boyfriend?" He asks

"No. I should be with you. I have friend zoned you forever and I let him treat you like this. I'm sorry.' I told Dana.

"It's gonna take more than an apology." He said leaning down to kiss me.
