He was staring at his cup of coffee. Feeling the warm cup as he recalls the night he had with the woman he loves. He cringed as he cannot allow his self for an ounce of happiness. There was only guilt inside of him and the notion that what he did was worthy of condemnation. If only the circumstances were in his favour, he thought nothing could keep him from her. It was not his occupation that stands between them. It was something that holds a greater weight. He was awakened from his deep thought at the sound of the door when Fine went out of her room. He smiled at her warmly and asked her to have the breakfast he prepared. He was nervous as to how Fine would react at what happened last night. Would she be conscious or would she ignore it were the thoughts he has in his head. "I'll have my breakfast somewhere else." Fine said as she went straight at the door and put on his shoes. Gale stood before her, nervous and observing her. "Do you have somewhere to go to? Are you coming back?" He asked. Fine stood up when she was done tying her shoes. "I will. I'm just going out for job hunting. I have to earn money. I can't stay here forever right? And I don't want to waste this school break either." She said then she went out of the house without hearing what Gale would further say or even say goodbye. She would appear indifferent to what happened the night before but inside, it was the opposite. She was panicking. Even though she did it through anger, it was her first time and there was still a feeling of embarrassment and a little remorse. After all, she did it with someone she does not love.

While sipping on her drink at the café, she convinces herself of the reason why she did it. "What has gone into your mind?!" A stunning man of the same age approached her and sat in front of her. She checked her watch and sighed. "You're sixteen minutes late Adam. Sixteen minutes." She said, shaking her head upon the man. Adam brushed his face with his hands and glared at his best friend. "Do you have any idea how many calls I have received from your mother? Do you have any idea how worried I was?" He said. Fine pushed her drink in front of him and smiled at him. "Relax, of course I know." She said then Adam groaned in frustration. "I'm living with Gale right now." She said. "Gale who?" Adam said while looking at the hot girl at the counter which Fine hated. "Gale Ohori" She uttered at the man who was taken aback at what he heard. "Gale Ohori? As in that young Professor every girl in our class was talking about? But isn't he-" "He does not know. What my sister knows is only that I know that my mom is having an affair and that's it. As to when and who's, she doesn't know that I know. You're the only one I told of what I found out. If she doesn't know then Gale also wouldn't." Fine said, digging into her breakfast. "Wasn't he your research adviser's assistant? You worked with him right? Isn't he just four years older than us? " Adam asked, cautious and curious. Fine lowered her eyebrows at him. "Do I have to introduce him to you again? It's not like you don't know who he is." She said. Adam knew he was just blabbering. With his best friend living with a man as appealing as he is, he was not sure if what he is feeling is just intimidation or jealousy.

"Why would you live with him? You could just move in with me. Why him?" Adam asked, trying to conceal his conflict. "My mother knows where you live. Besides, I have a plan Adam. I have already slept with him." "But still- What?!" Adam stood up in surprise, his voice raises and attracted the other customer's attention. Fine asked him to sit down but he was speechless in disbelief that he could not hear Fine nor consider the attention he got. Fine pulled his hand to make him sit and only then he was able to process what his best friend said. "Serafina, what has gone to your mind?" He asked. He felt heavy. He wanted to fly into rage but he does not know why. His chest pounds heavily. He thought of feeling protective of his best friend. "I needed to." She responded, unaware of her best friend's quivering feelings. "You needed to? Can't you explain in my language so I could understand better?!" He raised his voice again which left Fine perplexed. He noticed he was losing his cool and so he took a deep breath and looked at Fine. "Please explain to me why you did that. T-That was so opposite of you. Please tell me you're still Serafina." He said then he reached for her hands and caged them with his big warm hands. Fine felt like her chest was constricted. She felt like there was something blocking her throat then her tears just fell. Adam does not know what to do. It was the second time that Fine broke down in front of him but still, he is helpless witnessing those tears fall from his best friend's eyes.

Fine also felt helpless but she could only break down in front of the man she is secretly in love with. Adam stood up and pulled her into his car. He drove for two hours to his family's villa which location is not known to Fine's family. The ride was silent until they reached the place. Adam pulled her inside the house where a caretaker was waiting. He asked the old woman to cook them dinner and that they are staying for the night. He sat next to Fine and brushed her hair with his hand. "What happened? Why did you run away? And why did you do that?" He asked calmly. Fine leaned back on the sofa and took a deep breath. "I confronted her. It was only me and that house. It's not a home anymore. I cannot give her what she demanded. Respect, she doesn't deserve it. So I ran away. You know all about it Adam, and I'm so full of it. " She said. Adam also leaned back. "And what about that Professor?" He asked. Fine closed her eyes. "I was calling you last night but you weren't answering. I wonder what you were doing or who you were doing." She said which Adam did not responded to, feeling guilty of the missed calls. "He found me at the pub. Of course I know that my sister told him I was missing but it was only out of luck that he was able to find me there. He asked me to stay with him instead. Then the thought came to me. Why should I not start with the son? I could only be relieved if I see my mother's man in misery. He is a high profile in the university. It was also rumoured that the board would make him the next president in the next three months. He is a highly respected Professor and his son is also expected to follow his footsteps. Can you imagine what will happen to him if news came out that his son is dating his student?"

Adam stared at her. "Won't that also destroy you and your family?" He said but Fine laughed at him. "We're already in ruins." She uttered. Adam held her hand which Fine found strange. He was never this soft and gentle towards her even after this whole ordeal has started. "I'm sorry Fine. I failed to be your best friend. I'm guilty of not paying attention Fine. I ignored you because I thought you could get through this in time. I failed Fine, I was wrong. But please let me make it right this time. I'll stand with you and help you through this. Just- Just don't do this to yourself Fine. You are not like this." Adam pleaded but Fine pulled her hand. "I am like this Adam. I am me. It's only the circumstances which brought out this Fine but still, I am me." She said. They both knew that nothing can stop her anymore. She is determined to wreak havoc no matter what the consequence may be.
