Fine led Adam to the balcony of the house. "Alright, what is it? You can just call me you know? Why travel this far?" She asked. "I'm sorry Fine. I was excessive at the hospital. I know I don't have any right. I was not there when you needed me and I know I was lacking as a friend. I'm sorry. Can I start being a proper best friend? Please Fine?" He pleaded. Fine felt his sincerity. She laughed at him. "Oh please. You're speaking like you're not Adam. Bring back my best friend please." She said then Adam leaned on the railing and laughed with her. "I broke up with her." Adam said out of the blue, breaking the light atmosphere. "With who? What? I'm sorry?" Fine asked in confusion. "With Cynthia." He said. Fine finally understood but she was not surprised. "What's new about that?" She said casually like it was not a nothing big. Adam sighed, "She cheated on me." He said then Fine's eyed widened then she blurted out a laugh. "Now that's new. You've got your match." She said. Adam glared at her and sighed. "So that's how it felt like to be cheated on. But that's alright. It was nothing to me. I was just surprised that I would be cheated on you know. It hurt my pride." He said. "Right there! My Best friend's back! Hooray!" Fine said sarcastically. Adam looked at her, "Pride's everything to men." He said. "Right. If you haven't experienced loving." She said. Adam was struck by her words and bit his lips frustrated. He does not want to accept what she said. "I love my mother, I love my little sister, and I love you." He said. Fine raised her eye brows at him. "Of course you should love me. Who is it who wiped your snot when your parents separated when we were little? Me. Who was it who helped you at acads since we were little? Me. Who was it who saved you from those bullies? Me. And when you became a bully yourself, who helped you on your punishments? Me. And who was it who saves you from your crazy ex-girlfriends? Me. That's why you should love me alright?" She said then they both laughed.
Fine did not notice as she laughs. She was once in love with that person but her heart does not beat the same for him anymore which she is yet to realize. Adam however, knew why he was not affected by the break-up or that why he cannot bring his self to love the girls he has been with before and he only realized it after he lost her. He stares at her wide smile, his heart aches because he knew he lost the chance. "I do love you" He whispered to his self. "What? You saying something?" Fine said, still immersed in their memories. "I said it's getting late. I'll be going now." "Oh alright. I'll walk you out then." She said. Passing by the living room, Martin who was sitting at the couch saw them. "You're leaving already?" He asked. "Yes, it's getting late so yeah." Adam said. "I just thought about it. Why don't you stay with Adam? His place is near the university and the cram school right? I'm not saying that you couldn't stay here, you're very welcome here you know but I'm thinking about your everyday travel. It's three hours Fine. That's tiring. So if it's alright with Adam, then you might want to consider it." He said. Beth walked in and stood beside him, patted her husband purposely strong at the back. "I'll drive you to the city tomorrow then we'll look for a place." Beth said. Her clueless husband stared at her. He does not have a grasp on what his wife implies. "That's fine by me. You're very welcome at my house. There's only me and my little sister there. I'm sure she'll be wagging her tail when she hears you're gonna stay with us." He said. Fine thought about it for a moment, considering what Martin has said. "Really, we could just-" "Alright. Seems like that will do. I'll crash at your house until I find a place then." She said in the middle of Beth's sentence.
"I won't tell Mae then. She'll be surprised to see you." He said. "I'll be going back with Adam then. Sis, leave the search to me. I'll just drag this clown around to help me." She said. "If- If that's what you like then, but you can stay here for tonight Fine. You just arrived you know." She said. "Yiiiiiieeee. You'll be living like newlyweds then." Martin teased which Fine laughed at. Beth elbowed her clueless husband again. "It's alright sis. I don't want to bother you on driving me to the city tomorrow when I have a free ride here. We'll be leaving now then sis, and thanks for the coffee Martin." She said. "You're very welcome Fine. Remember, coffee is our best friend." He said "A-Alright then. But I'd prefer if you stay for a while" Beth said. "I'll be okay sis." Fine said then they left. Martin leaned on the table and grinned at his wife. "How was I? I'm such a good wingman right?" He said then Beth scoffed at her. "Wingman my ass." She said then she went straight to the bedroom. Martin was clueless, "Did I do anything wrong? And what's that? You kept on elbowing me." He said, curious at his wife's actions. "I wonder why your patients love you so much when you can't diagnose what I repeatedly implied, almost redundantly." She said squinting her eyes at her husband. "W-Why? What did I do wrong?" He asked again. "I think Fine loves another man who really loves her as well but she does not know that she already feels that way towards that man." She said, concerned at her sister. Her husband sat at the bed and crossed his hands over his chest, thinking. "So they already love each other huh? What did I do wrong then?" He said.
Beth turned to him and rolls her eyes then she threw him her comb. "I don't understand how you became a doctor!" She exclaimed irritated. Martin flinched at her voice then she walked over the bed and grabbed a pillow and started hitting her husband. "It's Gale! It's Gale! It's Gale!" She exclaimed frustratedly then her husband pulled the pillow and hugged her to stop her. "What? It's Gale? Wait. I just made a big mistake. How did you know?" He said then the clueless husband turned to her and smiled. "I love you babe." He said then Beth pushed him away and lied on the bed. "I just noticed earlier. I asked Gale and I confirmed it. I was not able to ask Fine thanks to you but I can feel it. I'm her sister after all." She said. Martin also lied back at the bed next to her wife then he hugged her. "I have no idea Beth. But let's just see what happens next. If they are meant for each other, Fine and Gale that is, then they will be together no matter what. So smile my darling and let that frown disappear alright? I love you." He said while poking his wife's cheeks with his fingers. Beth turned her head to him and glared at him then she sighed. "What do I do with you? I really love you." She said then her husband smiled brightly at her.
When Adam and Fine arrived at his house, he led her to the master's bedroom and told her she could use it. "But this is your mother's room right?" She said. "Yes it is but she does not come home here anymore. She's staying near the company. I'll just tell her tomorrow. She'll be fine with it. She likes you anyway." He said then they heard the door open. It was Mae waking up to their voices. Mae's eyes widened at the sight of Fine. She ran towards her immediately and embraced her. She signed her how surprised and happy she is by seeing her. "I'm also happy seeing you. I'll be staying here for the mean time until I find my own place to stay at." She said then Mae smiled and hugged her tightly. Adam prodded his sister lightly then she turned to him. "It's already late. Go to sleep again. She's not going anywhere alright?" He said then Mae nodded and signed them again that she is happy. She went back to her room and then Fine remembered her time with Mae. "She's fourteen now right? We basically raised her. We're her parents." Fine said then they both laughed. "Yeah right." He said then he helped her unpack her clothes.
"You have work tomorrow?" Adam asked then Fine nodded. "Afternoon just like today." She said. Adam grabbed the chance to ask her about Gale. "Fine, about Gale, do you like him?" He asked then Fine turned to him, surprised. "What are you talking about? Are you drunk or what? Still cannot get over from the break up?" She asked. "No, I'm serious. Y-You slept with him right? Perhaps you already-" "Adam! What's wrong with you? Why would you bring it up at such-" She stood up and went to the toilet. She sat at the toilet bowl and brought her hands to her face. "Why would he ask such question?" She asked herself. Her heart is beating fast and heat runs up to her face. "Why do I feel so hot? I can't breathe. What's happening to me?" She asked her self then she felt her pulse. "Am I sick? Why is my pulse fast?" She pondered then she thought about Gale. She contemplates on the time she spent with him. Her chest constricts, "D-Do I really?"
Adam was leaning on the bed, remembering the time at the hospital. He also followed her at the rooftop and he witnessed the confirmation that he already lost his chance.
