Fine could still not believe her sister's miscarriage. She could not imagine the pain it caused her sister and Martin who wishes to have children already. She could not imagine how insignificant her feelings are compared to her sister's and father's. "Ma'am, you're spacing out again. Don't tell us the child's there again." Her student said then they giggled. "Don't worry, I showed him the test paper last time. He won't come here again." She said then they all laughed. "Here are your papers. I think I lost some papers but don't worry it's not recorded. You did well overall but I think we have to focus on organic chemistry." The students reacted differently. Some sighed while some were exuberant. "Now those are like the reactions we'll be studying about. Complicated." She said then they all laughed. After dismissing the children, Fine called Adam asking him where he is now. She went out of the room, still cautious not only at Gale but also at Sally. She looked around to see the area clear then she dashed out of the building. She was waiting for Adam in front of the building when Gale tapped her shoulders. She looked at him startled then she took a deep breath. "Why do you look like you've seen a ghost?" Gale asked. Fine stared at him and shook her head. "Nothing." She looked at him. Her heart beats faster as she wanted to reach for his warm hands. She missed him. "By the way, I have your-" "Fine!" Adam was walking towards them. Gale smiled at him and shook hands with him. "Oh nice to meet you again." Adam said. "Same here." Gale responded then Adam turned to Fine. "Did I take too long? I'm sorry." He said. "No, you're just in time. I'm sorry Gale but I have somewhere to go to and I'm already chasing time." She said. "Is that so? Then I guess see you again next time." He said. "See you again man." Adam said then he pulled Fine by her hand towards the car.

Gale was taken aback at the sight of Adam holding Fine's hand. He knew he should not feel that way but his chest constricts, he loves her. It was not only him however. Fine was looking at Gale from the side mirror as Adam drives away. She looked at her hand and then to Adam. "Adam" She uttered. "Yes?" He asked. "C-Can you not- Never mind." She said then she looked away. Adam was curious and frustrated with Fine leaving him hanging. "What is it?" Adam asked. "Never mind." Fine said but Adam was insistent. "Tell me. What is it? Did I do anything wrong?" Adam said. "No you did not so don't think about it anymore." She said but Adam knew she has something to say and he will not stop until she says it. "Tell me, tell me, tell me." He insisted. Fine took a deep breath and looked at him. "Earlier, it bothered me." "Bothered? What? What bothered you?" He asked cluelessly. "When- When you pulled my hand in front of Gale. It bothered me." She said. Adam felt like choking with the pounding of his chest. He feels like he already knew what he is going to hear next. "W-What?" He asked. "Adam. I think I like Gale. No, I'm starting to love him." She said reluctantly. The pounding on Adam's chest grew stronger. He pulled over the side of the road. "W-Wait. It's urgent. I remembered I have to call Phil first." He said then he went out of the car with his phone. His phone is on his ear but he called no one. He stared at the tall buildings, taking the time to process what Fine has said. He already knew it from when he saw her break down in front of another man but hearing it directly from her is unparalleled. The pain cuts his heart and his throat feel blocked. He took a glance at Fine who looks worried then he smiled at her. He took a deep breath then went inside the car. "He said the documents are ready." He lied.

They dropped by the bank and went to the agency where Phil attended to them. "Here's the term of payment. I arranged it so that it would not be that much of a burden to you because you're still a student." He said then Fine reviewed it. "Thank you." She gave the money then he issued the receipt. "Here's the key then. I'll follow up on the papers before the end of the month. Congratulations on the house." Phil said then they shook hands. Driving back to Adam's house, Fine noticed something different with Adam. "Adam, what's wrong with you? Are you not feeling well?" She asked. Adam smiled at her and shook his head. "Nothing's wrong with me. I have somewhere to go to first so can I drop you off at the street corner?" He asked. "Sure. It's just a short walk." She said. She stares at him feels that he is distressed about something but he won't say it. Adam dropped him off with a smile but as soon as she closed the door, Adam drove away fast and instantaneously.

She is bothered by Adam's behaviour and wondered what is wrong. She went back worriedly and found Mae waiting at the living room. "Did you have your dinner already?" She asked then Mae shook her head. "Then do you want me to cook for us?" She asked then Mae nodded. "Alright. You want to help me?" She asked then Mae nodded excitedly. They went to the kitchen where the maid was already preparing for dinner. "Melissa, we'll take the job tonight." Fine said to the middle-aged woman. "Are you sure? This is my job." She said. Fine has her hands on the ingredients, "Don't worry Melissa." She said then Melissa sighed. "Adam might get angry ma'am." She asked nervously. Fine smiled at her. "Don't worry. I'll handle him and if he scolds you for other reasons, just tell me." She said then she winked at the maid who smiled at her. "I will leave this to you then, I will clean the rooms instead." She said. After the maid left, the two started preparing the food. Fine could see Mae enjoying what she is doing. She pats the child's head and smiled at her. "Let's serve this to your brother later." She said then Mae nodded sweetly, showing her love and care for her brother. After finishing cooking, they set the table up and Fine called Adam by his phone. "Hello?" Adam answered. "Adam, I just wonder what time would you get back because-" Before she could finish up her sentence, the call was cut. She wondered where Adam is. There was a noisy background, a mixture of loud music and chattering voices.

"Let's wait a little bit for your brother." She said then smiled at Mae. It was way passed dinner time but Adam was not still home. "Excuse me ma'am but I need to go home now." Melissa said. "Oh sure." Fine said then Melissa looked at the untouched food. "Don't worry, I'll clean this up. Leave this to me." She assured her then Melissa smiled at her and then left. Fine went to the living room where Mae is reading a book. She tapped her shoulder. "Let's have dinner without your brother. He might be caught up in a traffic." She said then Mae looked at the door and then to Fine. "Come on so you could sleep early. Your teacher will arrive early tomorrow morning." She said then Mae looked at the door again then she looked at Fine and then she nodded. They ate the food that they made and meant to eat with Adam. Hours have passed after they had their dinner but Adam has not yet come home. Fine is starting to get worried, she tried calling him but he does not answer. Mae has already gone to bed but Fine was still waiting for Adam at the kitchen. Looking at the hour and thinking of her class, she gave up on waiting. She wrapped the food and stored it in the refrigerator. She went to wash up before she sleeps, thinking about why Adam acted differently earlier.

Fine lied down to her bed, still worrying about Adam. Before Fine could fall to sleep, she heard someone entering the main door. She picked up her phone for light and went down the stairs to the living room. She opened the lights and as expected, it was Adam. He was already lying on the couch, looking tired. Fine put her phone inside her pocket and walked towards Adam but the nearer she gets to him, the stronger the smell of alcohol is. "Are you drunk Adam?" She asked. Then Adam slowly sat up. He stared at her for a while. "I drank a little." He said almost unrecognizable. Fine sighed and pulled his arm. "Come on, let's go to your room. Don't sleep here." She said and to her surprise, Adam pulled his arm away. She stared at him.
