"Impa's friend?" the nurse asked. I immediately stood to my feet and walked to her. "She will see the light of day again, but it will be at least 48 hours before we can send her off," she whispered.
"Okay," I responded, "Do you need a phone number to call when she is ready to be picked up?"
"Yes, we do."
"Okay."
"Give me just a moment." She went behind her desk to retrieve paper and something to write with. As she stooped down, I noticed some black smoke that I thought had a little purple and were clouds. She came back with paper and a pen.
"If you could write your contact information here, we'll call you as soon as she is ready to leave," the nurse said. I wrote my number down there, thanked her, and walked out the door.
"Well, how is she?" Zelda asked as soon as I popped out. We were dressed not in the cloths provided by the Goddesses but in everyday cloths
"She'll live, but they need her for 48 hours before they can let her go," I responded. "I'm not comfortable doing it, though."
"Why not?"
"As the nurse reached into a desk to retrieve paper, I saw black smoke - no - black clouds with a purple tint stream into her."
"Oh dear," Sara replied with worry.
"Evil is lurking within that hospital. I need to stay here and watch it."
"How are you going to do that without camping out?" the Princess asked.
"I don't know. I guess I'll come back tonight when the hospital is closed." That I did. I took my bike out of my shed next to the field of my house and peddled for about 30 minutes. When I finally made it there, the door was open. This in and of itself started giving me the shivers. It was also dark, yet not pitch black. I started walking into the building.
"Thank you for being the guardian/caregiver of the animatronics tonight. Please proceed through the hall in front of you and to your right," an automated voice told me.
"Oh, gosh, no. No. No! No! This is NOT happening!" I shouted in fear. I knew what was waiting for me in the darkness, the shadows, and the silhouettes of strange, robotic figures with a dim yellow glow in their eyes ready to jump out and scoop me. I decided I had no choice but to do so. I carefully listened for any unusual sounds. I suddenly heard shuffling, so I stopped walking and waited for it to fade away.
"You may now proceed again," the automated voice said. I took a big leap of trust and started walking slowly. I eventually felt a door and quickly opened it and went through. "Let's check on Be Leave first. Let's turn on the light to see if she's on her stage. Move to the left computer and tap the blue sun on the screen." This I did, and I didn't see her on the stage. After three seconds, the light turned off. "Uh oh. It seems Be Leave does not want to dance. Let's put the spring back in her step. Tap the red button to emit a controlled shock."
"I don't want to make them mad and wander off though," I said.
"It won't make them mad."
"You're interactive?" I asked it. I received no reply, so I just tapped the red button. I heard static electricity flow through the air.
"Let's check on her again." I turned on the light, and she was dancing on her stage. "Great. Now let's check on Funtime Foxy in the Funtime Auditorium. Move to the right computer, and turn on the light." I turned on the light but didn't see Foxy there. "It looks like Funtime Foxy is taking the day off. Let's encourage her to come out and work with a controlled shock."
"How does this not make them remotely annoyed?" I asked to myself. I tapped the red button and heard weird fuzz. "Let's try another controlled shock," the voice said. I pushed the button again. It was the same sound. "It seems there is a power malfunction. I will restart the system." I quickly looked under the desk and saw a door and a flashlight in it. "Restarting the system means all the animatronics will be out and about, so hide under the desk. Just make sure not to point the flashlight at any eyes. Commencing system restart." I quickly got under the desk, closed the door, and turned on the flashlight as all the power was cut.
I saw an eye for a brief moment when I shined the flashlight, so I quickly moved the gaze of the flashlight upon another area of that claustrophobic space. Next thing I know, I heard strange clanking noises so close to me. My heart was beating so fast I thought the animatronics could hear it. The door suddenly started slowly opening. Doing my best not to put my fingers through the holes, I fought the outer force and won. It tried again, but it tried a lot harder. I used all my strength to not breath quickly or grunt. It was opened about half way before I got a grip of the door. I closed the door after much effort.
"Most of the systems did restart automatically," the voice said again, "but there was one that had trouble restarting: the Funtime Auditorium. Because the power is back on, it is okay to come out of hiding because the animatronics returned to where they should be. Please make your way out to the hallway and to the left. Keep going down that hall until you find a room labeled "Control Room". Enter that room, find the online systems control panel. Hold the button for Funtime Auditorium for six seconds. You will hear a ding once it is done. If you ever feel in danger, feel free to stop the system restart and play an audio sound track we have created to calm Freddy down. You will have to start it all over again." I proceeded down the hall and to the door. I unhooked the cassette tape from the wall and walked into the control room. To the right was what I assumed to be Freddy the Animatronic. Looking all around the room, there was a control panel with the layout of the building on screen. A button, wood and with a round contour, was equipped next to each room and each labeled system. It took me a while until I found Funtime Auditorium's button. To my right there was a flashing light that would come on every three-and-a-half seconds, and I would see Freddy had moved in one way or another, whether it was coming close or backing off. Since he was close the last time I saw him, I played the cassette tape:
"Okay everyone," a high pitched voice kindly said, "it's time to go back to sleep." I waited a few seconds, then I started holding the button down. One. Two. Three. Four. Five- a subtle, low-toned voice started speaking, but I held for six. Ding. I immediately took my finger off the button.
"Great job for your first night on the job," the voice from the speakers said again, "Your nightly chores are now complete. You can go home now. Just make sure to listen for anything that may be in your path." With that said, I slowly peeped my head out the room to look up and down the hall for anything, but there was nothing either direction. I took a mere four steps into the hall and heard music, so I stopped. After a few seconds the sound disappeared, so I advanced slowly until I made it out the door and out of trauma and horror. I was so tired, but I was restless, so I did my best to ride my bike back home and didn't get back until four in the morning. That night I got no sleep.
