I came back to a battlefield full of dead bodies, decapitated heads, blood, and bones. All that was left was one Princess Zelda, grasping for the last threads of her life. I came over to her, unsheathed my sword, and shoved it back into the ground. The moment I did, the ground cracked before my feet, and around us a dome shield was born. I laid my hands on her chest (the main issue) and healed her. Once she was healed, she said,

"I- I'm sorry Link." She could not help but weep at the sight of our allies. I merely tried to focus on the past me and turn away from the dead bodies at that moment.

"You must stop this at once, Link," I said to him.

"I see you have been humbled by the goddesses."

"That parasite has been controlling you ever since you jumped into it. You may think you have power, but you don't."

"And how would YOU know this?"

"I now understand the power of Din better than ever. She made it to take away your power and render you useless. Now that most of your power is gone, Din will soon do away with you."

       "Why should I believe you?"

"Because I have suffered the same suffering you have endured." My past self was surprised at the response. "Everything and everyone has been taken from you, and you have no way of bringing any of it back. You must take my hand and join me in defeating the parasite. Spare yourself."

"No! I deserve this. I couldn't be the hero for my family! I couldn't be the hero for my friends. I couldn't be the hero for myself. I have to die."

"Please, don't do this. If you kill yourself, you will have killed any possible future you could have." Silence, painful, bitter silence, filled the air around us. There was much of it this time, but it was finally broken with the voice of my past self.

"Quickly, then. Grab my hand." I reached inside the parasite, felt the flesh of the person inside, took a firm hold, and pulled him out of there. The parasite quickly tried to reclaim its host, but I stopped it in its tracks by slicing it in half, the strange, black liquid from before letting loose all over us. Instead of being absorbed, though, this time it simply disintegrated from existence. Silence began to surround us again, this time being full of determination, courage, and heroism.

"It seems that my quest is complete," I spoke,, "yet, there is still one lingering problem tearing us all to shreds: what has Din been doing this entire time? It seems as if she simply disappeared through the galaxy and out of the universe. She could have been controlling the parasite, but how would she be able to capture and conceal the other two goddesses while doing so?"

"Link," Zelda said, a bit anxious.

       "Yes, Zelda?" I replied.

"What is that?" she asked, pointing to an entity much like a black hole.

"That," the first me told us, "is Din herself." The ball of darkness began to whisper.

"So it seems you have finally found me." the ball of darkness slowly became the form of a large human surrounded by fire. "You've finally found what your true objective is."

"Din, you have no reason to wreak havoc upon this world," I said.

"I could not rule over you, so-"

"You mean you couldn't manage our growth in power and dominance." She remained silent at this. "If you don't stop doing this now, you know I'll have to stop you, and you know I am able to."

"Are you really able to?" she asked.

"Why do you ask questions that have been answered for you?"

"Are you REALLY able to?" I did not understand why she asked again. "You won't go on for long because you only have one true reason for wanting to complete this quest." She knew it was true, I knew it was true, but was it time to tell her? I hadn't the answer on the tip of my tongue. Din, like Farore could, disappeared into thin air.

"What does she mean by that?" Zelda asked. The sweetness of silence now became bitter as I had to tell her now.

"So it IS true," said I.

"What, Link? You need to tell me."

"I know, and I should have told you a LONG time back, but here it is now. It seemed strange, those fateful days and nights, those of the beginning of the quest, that when I went upstairs to find the bodies there, they disappeared."

"What was so weird about it?"

"The blood stains and loose bones had vanished with them. If my parents were truly dead, and they truly vanished, the blood stains would not have left. Zelda, I believe with all my heart my family is alive, merely captured by Din alongside all our families and (just now) our friends."
