Worst Night Mare :  Wedding (Epilogue)

I looked into the mirror at the beautiful wedding dress; I had a huge smile on my face I was happy this day had finally arrived and that everyone could make it. I took a deep breath, I was nervous so I had no idea how anyone else was feeling, it was almost as nerve racking as taking part in the Olympics, I had come 3rd and I felt worse there was a knot in my stomach.

But then the music started and I turned to walk down the ilea keeping my eyes to the front so I wouldn’t fall over. Not looking at anyone knowing I would do something that was not right. The ceremony was amazing, even better than I had imagined, I think even a tear leaked out at one point.

He looked down into my eyes, as we danced side to side, as the wedding band played a slow song. “I love you so much” he whispered laying his forehead on mine, I leaned up and kissed his lips softly when I pulled back I looked into his eyes which seemed to be sparkling with happiness “I love you two” he grinned.

Then Zander appeared next to us. “May I have a dance with my new step sister?” he asked with a cheeky grin, Dan nodded letting go of my waist he kissed my lips “I will go find Oscar” I smiled as he went off to find our son, who no doubt was in the middle of doing something which would get him into trouble for.

It had been three years since we had him, I looked round as Zander and I started dancing. There in the middle of the floor, was my dad with his arms wrapped round Zander’s mum’s waist their foreheads touching, Zander’s mum giggled and slapped his chest. “Did you think they would do it?” asked Zander my eyes flicked to his face to find him smiling at the couple at well. “Do you mean, did I think three years ago I would be dancing with you at our parent’s wedding?” he nodded “No I didn’t” he chuckled and looked back round to me “Me either, but I feel happy about it”

I laughed as Jamie ran through the room, with Oscar running after him, holding something in his hand. I was glad that my son and brother had become like best friends considering they are only two years apart, Jamie being five and Oscar being three. Zander and Chad were both now twenty, Dan and Tasha twenty one, Ann and I eighteen and Jack twenty three. Few seconds later Oscar ran too me, poking me in the hip to make sure he had my full attention “mummy, daddy was splashing Jamie and I with the fountain.” He said grabbing onto my leg, through my red maid of honour dress almost hiding behind the fabric “Teller” said Dan coming up from the direction Oscar had appeared with a grin on his face.

“Oh before I forget” asked Zander bring my attention from Dan who was now carrying a pouting Oscar away. “Yeah” I said looking up at Zander, “I needed to ask your permission for something” I frowned trying to work out what he would need permission for. “Ann said I needed to ask you can your step brother and best friend go on a date” he asked with a croaked grin, so Ann to worry about whether I was ok with them dating. “Took you three years to ask her, and you’re asking me if it is ok” I said laughing “Yeah you have my blessing” he grinned and kissed my forehead “thank you Izzy” and he walked off probably to find Ann, well I hope so “See ya sis” I waved at my new third brother.

No soon had he gone did some on arrive in front of me, someone I didn’t not want to see special here now. “Mother” I said coldly glancing at my dad who was still flirting with Katie, by the looks of her red cheeks. I hadn’t seen my mum since I had told her I wasn’t going to move with her. “Isabella” she said back in a voice which could cut through ice, not the voice I remembered wishing me a goodnight sleep when I was younger “What are you doing here?” I asked crossing my arms, going defensive “I am here to see my children, and grandchild” she said rolling her eyes like it was painfully obvious, that would be her reason to come to her ex-husband’s wedding “Since my daughters 18th birthday was only a week ago” she said trying to smile at me but I could see her true motives behind it, she was here to check out who dad had replaced her with, just like the bitch she was, because at the time at the hospital she hadn’t realised who Kate was. “Right, now you have seen me. You can leave just like you have done every time before.” Her glare became more intense, as her new boyfriend came up behind her, yes she was now divorced twice. “You have a son now, you must know how stressed I was” she said, this made me go even more defensive I was nothing like the evil witch in front of me and I would never be. “Yes I am under stress, but I would never leave my son and….” I trailed off as Dan came up behind me wrapping his arms around my waist, we hadn’t talked about getting married yet I don’t know if Dan even wanted to, of course I still wore the promise ring he got me but we hadn’t really talk about it again since Oscar was born. “And her husband” said Dan confidently behind me.

My mum glared “I will leave once I have seen my other child” she said crossing her arms, tightly. My head was running a hundred miles an hour on what Dan had just said did he mean it or was he just getting at my mum for what she said when we last saw her when I was in hospital having Oscar and tried to persuade me to move with her. “Even though you have two sons, here I am mother” said Jack from next to us, coming to stand next to me and Dan who still had his arm wrapped round my waist. “I think you should leave” said Dan taking my hand, and pulling me towards the double doors which led to the hotel gardens. “Yeah I am going to find Charlotte anyway.” Said Jack waving then disappearing to go find his girlfriend for two years, Charlotte.

As Dan pulled me into the garden, I was pulled into a hug, from Tasha who was stood out there with Toby, who grinned at me. “Guess what?” said Tasha excitedly, “what?” I asked smiling at both of them. Tasha held up her left hand to show me the diamond which now sat there. I giggled and hugged her jumping up and down.

Once we had talked to Tasha and Toby for a while, Dan was again pulling me by are linked hands. We ended up sat on a stone bench next to a fountain. He turned to me on the bench, “I know you wanted this day to be special for your dad, so I haven’t brought the ring with me, but I can’t wait any longer, Izzy will you marry me?” he asked after he seemed to hold his breath, I giggled and pressed my lips to his “Yes” I whispered with them still against his. He grinned and kissed me probably. “Mummy, Daddy” we both turned to look at little guy stood before us, in his mini tux’s which matched his dads, Oscar looked like a mini Dan apart from my eyes, and Dan says my laugh but he will be breaking hearts when he is older. “Hey little man” said Dan, Oscar grinned and came bouncing towards us squeezing himself in the middle, letting his short legs stick out in front of him. “Daddy?” he asked looking up into Dan’s face “Yeah” he said looking down at him with a grin “Do you love mummy?” Dan’s eyes flicked to mine “Yes” he said his grin growing “And Mummy do you love daddy?” I nodded and then Dan’s lips were on mine over Oscar’s head. “Ewww that’s gross” he screamed and ran away, making both Dan and I laugh.

We walked back into the wedding room, hand in hand to see Dad and Katie saying goodbye to everyone to go off on their honeymoon. I rushed forward to my dad jumping in to his out stretched arms. “I am so happy for you, daddy” I said squeezing him hard “And I am happy and proud of you princess” he said squeezing back. I then turned once letting go of dad to hug Katie. “Thank you” I said loud enough for only her to hear. “For what?” she asked back at the same volume I was so close to crying, “For being there for him when I couldn’t” we pulled back enough to look at each other, “When was that?” she asked frowning “When I was lying screaming in hospital bed for one.” She laughed with me.

I looked around as the car drove off; Jack was stood hand in hand with Charlotte, grinning with his two best friends Bradley and James stood next to each other also holding hands, yes they had admitted to everyone they were gay, and no one found it weird special Jack who thought they were together in high school. Zander and Ann were stood together smiling and talking. Jamie and Oscar were running around the car park playing tag. Tasha and Toby were stood with their arms around each other’s waists. Chris and Mark were stood a little closer then you would think to best friends would, so I guess Chris had given Mark a chance. And Chad and Dan were having a guy hug because Dan just asked him to be his best man for our wedding. I couldn’t help but let the tear run down my face, Vince who was stood next to me turned towards me and asked “Why are you crying Izzy?” rubbing my back gently in a fatherly fashion “I so happy” I said grinning through my tears.
