We parted ways
Walking our own paths
The truth lying plain in front of us,
We were never to meet again.
Her life was near completion
It took a turn almost at every point
It was one of those fateful turns that he’d lead me into her life.
But my goal lay far ahead
Nothing stood in my path,
She was a person I stumbled upon by fluke
Though now I wonder if it were destiny.
Yet I travel on
On that trajectory governing my footsteps
Though I had eyes constantly on her
Though I had eyes constantly for her,
But alas I was made like this
Unable to follow my bliss.
Further I went it got dark
She was lost far behind
In the light that could not penetrate my cold heart.
Yet it beat on
Giving me strength
Giving me warmth.
All alone, I longed to see her familiar face
My future obscured by the haze,
I looked back to the point it had taken place,
Barren land was all that greeted my eyes.
Alas, our paths had only crossed once
For I was a ray,
A tangent
To that almost complete circle of hers…
