"Hey mom!!!" I screamed through the hallway.
"Yes sweetie." She replied.
"Can you help me?" I pleaded.
She walked over to me and helped me finish preparing dinner. My boyfriend and his family were on their way to my apartment for dinner. That night was the first night I had ever met his parents.
The door belled rang and I scurried to the door, expecting Blake and his family. To my disappointment I was face to face with my father.
"Oh" I sighed.
"Well nice to see you too." My dad said.
"I though you said you wouldn't be here." I had asked him to come for dinner yesterday but he said he had a some important work to do. He entered the house and hung his coat on the coat rack.
"I didn't want to miss this. I'm your father. I need to be here during these things." All I managed to do was roll my eyes. We walked into the kitchen to the sight of my mother cleaning up a huge spill on the floor. I quickly grabbed a rag and started cleaning with her.
"Hello Marie." He said.
"Frank" She nodded.
"Whats for dinner tonight." He searched through every tray and pot in the kitchen.
The doorbell rang again. "He's here!" I opened the door to Blake and his parents.
"Please do come in." I smiled. I kissed Blake's cheek and hugged his parents. I guided them into the dining room and took their coats.
"Please have a seat. I'll be right back with diner, but Blake could you come here for a second." He nodded.
We walked into the bedroom and we sat on the bed."Blake, my father is here. My dad is going to mess everything up. I just know it." I frowned.
"Listen. When I met your dad. He was outgoing. My parents love outgoing. We'll be fine." He kissed me slowly with his soft tender lips.
We walked out of the room and I went to the kitchen while he went to the dining room. I took the tray which was filled with a delicious cheesy chicken lasagna and set it onto the dining table.
"mhhh honey that smells wonderful" Said Blake.
"Thank you darling" I replied.
I ran back to the kitchen and grabbed the rest of the food, baked chicken with roasted red potatoes and stuffing, a pot with fried rice, a bowl of mashed potatoes, freshly baked cake and garlic bread. I set everything on the table and walked to the seat next to Blake. He grabbed my hand and brought my ear to his lips and whispered, "I've got a treat for you later." he winked, let go of my hand and softly tapped my butt.
Thankfully no one saw, everyone was busy digging into the food. I took my seat next to Blake and took out my food. Through out the dinner, my dad was actually being very nice and friendly. Maybe he's changed, maybe he won't mess things up for me. Suddenly I hear a question that changes my mind.
"So Frank, What is it that you do?" Blakes mother asked my father. Blake and I looked at each other and then I looked at my father with a cold stare.
"I'm an exporter. I export products out of the country." said my father.
"Oh what type of products do u export?" asked Blake's father. Dad looked at me and I shook my head "no"
"Oh I export many things, I can't list all of them" My dad chuckled and I smiled and mouthed "Thank You" to him and he smiled back.

"Well thank you for the wonderful dinner, We will be going now. It was an amazing night." said Blakes mother as they were leaving the door.
"Father you can go, I'll stay with Jess and help her clean up." said Blake.
"Alright, see you all later." said his father.
We walked inside and went straight to clean the dining table.
"Mother, you can go to bed, Blake and I will clean up." I said. She nodded and went upstairs to sleep.
Blake and I began cleaning, we washed the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, the dining room and by the time we were finished it was 11. We walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa.
"Today went well didn't it?" Asked Blake.
"Yeah I think so." I replied. I laid my head on top of his shoulder and held his hand.
