CHAPTER 11
"River?" He looked up at me and pointed at his throat. "Drex, get me some water, now, River woke up."
Drex gave me the water and I handed it to River. He took a long sip. "Thank you-" I tackled him in a hug and peppered his face with kisses. "Stop, stop," he laughed.
I pulled back and pushed Drex out of the tent. "I'm sorry, you... He shot you, it didn't look like you were coming back."
"I know baby, I know. I'm sorry, I'm okay now, okay?" He kissed my cheek and somehow it seemed filled with more love than when he would kiss me on my lips.
I closed my eyes. "You better not leave me again, you don't know how stressed I was."
He gave me one of his famous grins. "Oh? I'm pretty sure before I woke up, I could hear you talking about us having children, you didn't sound so stressed then...?"
My face heated up. "You heard that?"
"Every last word," another grinned played on his lips as I groaned from embarrassment. River laughed.
"Shut up, you're the one who said that you wanted to get married and have a daughter and a son, so ha, I win."
He smirked and rolled onto his side, wincing. I moved towards him to help but he pushed me off. "This is gonna leave a huge scar," Riv said staring at the wound in his chest. Drex had stitched him up as best he could with what he had.
I smiled at him. "It makes you look stronger, the scars." I ran a hand down the scars on his arm and the others on his chest. He shuddered and I kissed him again.
"River, you're awake!" Jennifer walked over and kissed his cheek. "Drex made me come in here to give you your food, I guess he didn't want to walk in on this." She raised her eyebrows when she saw my hands on his chest. "Did I interrupt-"
"No, you didn't," I said quickly, removing my hands. I took the food from her hands and set it next to River. "Can you... Do you have some time to talk to me?"
She nodded and we got out of the tent. "We'll be back," she said and just the way she looked at him, was putting me on edge. "So what's up-"
"Do you like River?" I blurted and she paled. "Well, do you?"
"Uh... Well, not really..." Jen stuttered.
"Please just be honest with me, I... I just need to know," I whispered.
"A little, but..." She stopped as I heard footsteps behind me. "Eden, turn around," she whispered, her voice shaking.
As I slowly turned, I regretted leaving my knives back with River. A hand was placed over my mouth and my scream was muffled. "I'm sorry Eden, they said they wouldn't hurt me and that we could get Arion back, you would've done the same if it was me they had taken, please forgive me," Drex says.
I screamed again, but he had already pressed a to knife to my neck threateningly.
Drex's POV
I watched as her gaze flickered to River's tent and my heart broke. I couldn't take my sister and give her to the Wolves. But if I didn't, Arion would tell. I lowered my hands and placed them at her neck, before tightening my grip. Her muffled screams killed me, but I turned away so I wouldn't have to look into her eyes and she wouldn't have to see how low her brother has sunk.
Jennifer had looked away as well. "I can't believe you're doing this," she whispered as Eden went limp in my arms. I quickly tied her arms and legs together. "How can you be so heartless? I want to have Arion back as much as you do, but at the sacrifice of your own sister?" Jennifer wrapped her arms around herself.
