Wincing as the baby pegasus zoomed across your empty cabin, you attempted to clean up the mess it left in its wake but sighed and flopped onto your bed. But all this extra responsibility was worth it. The baby pegasus was about to be put down, injured and suffering greatly, but you had burst into the room, screaming, tears welling around your eyes, and snatching the poor pegasus away. In a few days, you had healed it and now you were its parent. You reminded your friends of Newt Scamander, that rogue wizard you heard which travelled the world, sometimes rather hanging out with the magical creatures than mortals or actual demigods. It infuriated you that some couldn't even grasp the concept that they deserved to be treated as equals to the lot of you, maybe even more.
You brushed the thoughts aside, irritated that it irked you greatly, and turned your attention back to the drooling baby pegasus. It's silky feathers gleamed under the soft morning light and the tiny wings arched in effort to lift its pudgy body around the cabin. Its purple soft mane twirled gently in the air and its eyes seemed to hold a thousand constellations amidst the oil-like black cosmos. It turned its head towards you and neighed happily, a small high-pitched whine escaping through its nostrils and strand of drool hanging loosely from the corner of its mouth. It fell to the floor as the corner of its mouth quirked up and seeming to defy your silent protests, it continued to rampage through the cabin.
It seemed to like you a lot, especially since you had saved its life. Regardless of your godly parent being (y/g/p), you had unnatural healing abilities, especially among creatures. But that didn't really help in getting friends, did it? The Seven occasionally waved and talked to you, but you could tell they were only being polite. You were someone in the background of Camp Half Blood, the nameless face in the sea of extras. You scoffed at the prospect of finding a partner. Nearly as ridiculous as the idea of you hating creatures. The pegasus whined sadly and snuggled under your limp arms. A small smile played on your lips and you stroked it, making sure to nudge it at the right spots. Least to say, it was rather disappointed as heavy panicked knocks sounded at your door and you got up to answer it.
Opening the door, you gasped as it revealed Lester Papadopoulos. It surprised you having a god, or ex-god, at your doorstep, a mask of absolute eagerness scrawled all over his face. He squealed when he noticed the glaring pegasus under your arms and asked, "Um, hi! Sorry to disturb you, but I live in the cabin beside you and I always hear your baby pegasus running about and neighing-" He took a deep breath and continued. " And I was just wondering if I could pet it?" You stood for a moment, stunned, that a god, or ex-god, knocked on your freaking door to ask if he could pet your pegasus.
"Y-yeah, sure," You stammered and moved aside to let him in. You placed the tiny pegasus on the floor tenderly and Lester giggled excitedly. He started forward but the tiny pegasus wobbled away from him, neighing discontentedly. His smile dropped and you laughed. Stroking his mane, you noted, "He doesn't seem to like you." The pegasus nodded furiously, its wings bobbing up and down and a rapid line of neighs and sighs came. Your heart sank, and lowering your gaze from Lester to the floor, translated, "He's afraid you'll hurt me, like others have."
Lester's slightly offended gaze softened and he moved forward. You flinched, afraid he'll hit you, but he wrapped his arms around you. You stiffened, utterly stunned, it had been a long while since someone had shown actions of affection towards you. He pats your back and comforted, "I believe this mortal term is called 'hugging'." He pulled away, sensing your slight discomfort and you felt your skin tingle with longing, a grey whisper of your breath exhaled in reluctance. He gripped the side of your arms firmly and insisted, "I'll never hurt you, (y/n)." He flicked his golden ashy hair aside, wiggling his eyebrows, and joked lightly, "I mean besides my uncensored beauty possibly being able to blind you and my immaculate muscles posing a threat to your hormones." A snort of laughter slipped out and soon the two of your burst out into a fit of laughter.
"But seriously, (y/n)," He took your hand in his and in your peripheral vision, you saw the baby pegasus frown in confusion. As you looked into his sincerely concerned eyes, you felt the blue in his eyes dance around the pitch black iris, the faint sounds of matching jewel blue waves crashing against the shore. As he spoke, you felt warmth spread through you, golden shimmering sunlight unfurling throughout your body. Was this the godly power he truly possessed? Was this one of the moments where his mortal self had never wanted anything more, so much that his power returned to him? "I'll never hurt you, physically or emotionally, won't even dare to lay a harmful hair on you. Ever."
His gentle fingers ran over your fading bruises from bullies and promised, "I swear (y/l/n), you're such a brave and caring demigod at heart, your innocent exudes your very form, it's a great mystery that no one's begging at your feet for your hand. If anyone ever hurts you in anyway again, I'll find them and I'll make sure that there will be nothing left for them." You grip his hand tightly, never wanting this moment to end. "I care for you, okay (y/n)? I've never felt such pure and genuine love for someone since Hyacinthus or Daphne. It's just that ever since I've become Lester Papadopoulos, I've lost faith in myself in ever finding love again. I was so afraid to tell you but now it's all spilling it out and I don't think I could ever deal with being rejected-"
You stopped his with a kiss. Time seemed to slow down as you leaned forward and on tiptoes, pressed your lips against his. Your hands moved to his shoulders instinctively, pulling him closer to you because you both know that comfort is what you really need. He doesn't hold back, his arms wrapping around your waist and pulling you even tighter so towards him. They run along your spine not roughly, but in a firm manner, as if reassuring you he would never let go. And you believe him.
He pulls away, gasping for air and a shy blush reaching the tips of his ears and nose. The young pegasus neighs with amusement at your feet and finally allows Lester, who bends down cheerfully and calls him it 'literal wingman', to stroke him. Lester scuffed its neck but nevertheless, it ran away cheekily though without the initial hostility. Lester rolled his eyes light-heartedly and slipped his hand into yours as he stood back up. He looked into the distance, where the mythical creatures you had rescue were roaming. You leaned against his body, which seemed to envelope you hungrily. He spoke with determination and love, "You've mended everything but yourself, (y/n)."
"It's now time for me to help you mend your heart."

QOTD: Would you like another Lester Papadopoulos one shot sometime soon, making him an official character in this series of one shots?
AOTD: He's a cutie to write about. :D
