Starting Over

5 - First Day

School started today. I woke up early and got ready. When I headed downstairs the only person there was Ann. "Hey" I said quietly. "Where is everyone"

She looked surprised to see me. "Oh they're still asleep. Your awake early"

I nodded my head. "Yeah I couldn't sleep I was just nervous about today"

"Oh nonsense! It'll be fine and I talked to Chase he'll take you around." She said smiling at me. "Oh and if he creates any trouble for you just let me know ok sweetheart"

I nodded my head slightly. "So what's for breakfast" I asked. I really hoped she made something because I was tired of eating fruit.

"Cereal" she placed a bowl in front of me. I didn't say anything and began munching in the cornflakes.

I wanted to tell Ann what Cameron said to me but I just didn't know how to spring that conversation up.

After I finished my bowl of cereal everyone slowly appeared into the kitchen in a groggy fashion.

I left the room because all of them hated me except Nick. I got dressed and came back downstairs. Ann was waiting near the door.

I walked over to her. "Did everyone leave?"

She nodded her head. "Except Nick he's waiting out front for you so hurry up."

I scurried outside and walked to the passenger seat of Nicks car. I got in and he pulled out.

"So you excited!" He said trying to sound encouraging.

I rolled my eyes. "If your brother doesn't leave me to fend for myself then maybe if won't be that terrible of a day" I said with sarcasm.

He chuckled. "Don't worry he won't. My mom can be scary and convincing when she wants."

I looked out the window and watched the trees pass by. "I'm guessing you and Ryan are seniors"

He nodded his head. "Yeah we're fraternal twins"

"So what grade is Cameron in?" I questioned looking at him. He had one hand on the wheel while the other was rubbing his chin back and forth.

"She's a sophomore." He told me.

He took a turn and we appeared in front of the school. He parked his car and we both got out.

"Oh by the way" he started as he grabbed his backpack from the back seat. "We're all kind of well known around here so if girls glare at you don't take offense to it. They just don't like seeing us with females."

I nodded my head understanding what he meant. He was popular. I rolled my eyes again.

As we headed in Nick turned to me. "Ok Chase is over there" he pointed near a water fountain and sure enough there was the closeted gay.

"I'm gonna go so I don't get late to first period. Just meet me by the car after school" he told me then walked in the other direction.

I was already getting a few looks by people. I walked over to Chase.

He looked up at me with no expression. "Follow Me" he said in a monotoned voice.

We walked to first period together and people were already whispering. Math was first and when we entered the room Chase got all excited when he saw his friends and boyfriend in the hiding.

"Hey Jack" Chase said nodding his head up. They did that weird guy handshake and he sat next to him. Alex was next to them and the three of them started talking.
