It was Christmas and to my surprise the Jones family were not at strictly family oriented as I thought they would have been.
In fact many of the family friends were just friends of the kids.
I was sitting on the couch watching Ann's nephew rip open a toy that Rob got him.
Next to me was Chase and Alex. The rest of room was filled with family and friends and I felt like a total outsider.
After watching kids tear open their gifts wrapped is paper that must've took ages to tape down I excused myself and headed upstairs.
We never really celebrated Christmas at my home so I felt out of place. I stayed for a few hours but it just got uncomfortable after awhile.
Making my way upstairs I passed the kitchen where an argument had spurred.
"I don't give a damn whether you don't like her or not she's a part of this family"
The voice sounded like Ann and whoever she was talking to it was about me.
"She's a nuisance. Her presence is so irritating and she's got some pretty dark shit concealed and I do not want to be around for when that explodes. I only put up with her for your sake!" Someone whispered.
I couldn't make out who it was and I didn't get a chance to listen to anymore because someone tapped me on the shoulder.
I quickly turned around to see Drew smiling at me. "Well hello" he said with his eyebrows raised.
I stared at him confused. "Hi?"
I have not spoken to Drew since the day he came considering he was going through some man period of his.
He scratched the back of his head and pushed his glasses up. "Can we talk?"
I blinked a few times before processing what he said. I nodded my head slowly and lead him to my room.
I shut the door and we both took a seat on my bed.
"So?" I ushered him to continue on with whatever the hell he wanted to talk about.
"Look I'm sorry for the other day. I was just really bummed out about leaving the town I grew up in you know?"
I looked at him as he played with the strings on his sweatshirt.
"It's ok" I whispered. Relieved that it wasn't something I had done.
He quickly looked up at me with his eyes brows raised. "Really?"
I laughed softly. "Yeah. I completely understand."
A big smile formed on his face. He took a deep breathe. "Oh thank God I thought you would hate me after how much of an asshole I was being."
I hit him with my purple pillow and chuckled. We both laid down on my bed and I enjoyed the silence in the room apart from our breathing.
"So are you and Nick a thing?" Drew asked randomly breaking the silence.
I laughed and scrunched my face. "Oh god no! He's the most annoying human on the planet."
He stayed silent.
"Why do you ask?" I shifted my body so I could look at him.
"Because he was in the room with you.." he trailed.
I started laughing hysterically. After I stopped I explained to him what exactly happened and we both laughed.
After catching our breath I finally asked. "Were you sad about your girlfriend?"
