As I studied myself in the mirror, all I could see were my flaws. All the freckles, my crazy red curly hair, and of course I'm short. Eww who would seriously choose to have these features. I gave up complaining to myself about my looks to get ready for my last day of freshman year. As usual I grabbed my normal I don't care what I look like clothes. This is the last day of freshman year screw it. I searched my closet until I found my sparkly black shirt and my skinny jeans. Through on my makeup as best as I could from knowledge. Grabbed my shoes and rushed out the door. I slowly walked the four blocks or so to school. I just kept telling myself it's okay my life couldn't get any worse than this.. I hoped anyway. As I made it to the school, my best friend Devin ran up to me.
"Well at least your early today, and you look quite nice if I do say so myself." He grinned as he said the words.
"Thanks Devin. You always know how to make all the girls feel special." I laughed as he gave me a dirty look.
He knew I was right though who would have thought my best friend was the school man hoe. I laughed in my head. The only difference he never got the girls. He walked me to my locker."So miss what are your plans for this summer?" He questioned as if I was seriously going to do something fun.
"Probably just go to my dad's new house in Ireland. Wanna join?" I asked even though I knew he always says no to everything I invite him to.
"Nah, I'll be spending all my days at the beach. Checking out all the ladies" he said winking. I really need to get him a leash and maybe a dog whistle. I laughed not realizing I had done it out loud.
"Why are you laughing?" He just stared as if I was crazy."Nothing Devin. Let's just get to class." I said. As I went to turn around, a large fuzzy orange cat was sitting at my feet.
"Umm Devin?" I looked at him puzzled."What?" He asked.
"Why is there a large fuzzy orange cat by my feet and also why is there a letter around its neck?" I questioned it. And as I said it I kinda sounded crazy to be honest.
"Umm I don't know but we are gonna be late for class." I hurried behind to our class and soon after the day was flying by.I didn't realize it was almost the end of the day until I saw that cat yet again. That's weird I thought. Why does it keep following me? Does it smell patches on my book bag or my clothes? Ugh maybe she lays on everything I freaking own. The bell rang and before I knew it I was on my way home after a long boring last day of school. Finally it's summer. As I got to my porch I heard my mom yelling about something as always. So I decided to just sit on the porch steps until she calmed down. I lay back to look up at the sky and wouldn't you know it that damn cat meowed in my face.
"Okay kitty, why do you keep following me and what do you want?" I questioned him as if he'd actually respond, well so I thought. He turned his head crooked as he stared at me.
"Seriously kitty go away." I said annoyed.
"Fine then. But please remove your letter from my neck then and I'll be gone." He spoke. He seriously freaking just spoke to me. I jumped up to my feet.
"Did you just speak to me?" I stuttered.
"Ugh, yes now please for the love of Onyx the goddess remove this damn letter so I can go home. Please." He came close to my feet and sat down. I slowly bent down grabbed the letter and ran in the house. That was not real I have seriously lost my mind, or have I?
