Chapter 5

We were all sitting around the table when Sadie came bursting in the door followed by Josh and Alex.

"I got them Leila, I heard someone scream and I ran before it was too -" She spotted us all eating and stopped, looking confused.

"Sorry Sadie!" I said getting up, " When I went to tell you it was all okay you were gone. And sorry boys I hope you weren't doing anything important." I said apologetically.

"But I thought I heard somebody scream!" Sadie said frantically.

" oh I'm sorry, that was me, Leila scared me!" Ava said. Sadie nodded, understanding.

"Anyway who are these guys, I've never seen them in my life." Josh said. Ava gasped, and looked at him surprised.

Laughing she said, "Excuse him guys he's very forgetful," Ava gestured towards Alan, " This is Alan, and this,"she gestured towards Chad, "Is Chad. They are from the band Anthem Lights. I've showed you them like a billion times."

" I remember now! It's a pleasure to meet you." said Josh shaking their hands. Josh and Alex were twins, identical but not so you couldn't tell them apart. They were each about 6 ft and very strong, they had short blonde hair and very blue eyes. You could say they were very handsome, and most girls do.

Alan and Chad went back to eating, and I left to the kitchen to get Josh, Alex, and Sadie a plate. Unfortunately Alex followed me and spouted a list of questions off to me like, "why'd you leave Ava alone", "Can I trust those guys?" , "Leila why won't you answer me?" he finished.

"Alex, you have nothing to worry about Ava is fifteen now she can take care of herself, and she can she knows better than to let some stranger come into the house," Alex looked at her with his eyebrows raised and pointing into the other room, indicating Alan and Chad, "Don't look at me like that! They aren't strangers to her Alex, they're her best friends and she's talked to them enough times to prove it." I said glaring at him.

"okay fine but next time she invites someone over it has to be cleared with me." He said forcefully.

"Tell her not me." I said to him. Alex and I usually got along but when it came to him being protective there was no getting through him.

"Fine, just one more question then." he said. I looked at him implying to go on.

"Why were you out for so long I saw you leave this morning and you didn't come back for three hours." He said trying to be more polite now.

I hesitated to tell him, because I figured out that Caleb would be over very soon and I didn't want alex hovering over him, but I told him anyways knowing there was no lie on heaven or earth that was going to get me out of this. I sighed, " I was out on a date." I said quickly hoping he didn't hear, but he had and he looked at me shocked. It wasn't that I wasn't a datable person, but because the last date I had been on was almost a year ago and had left my heart broken into a billion pieces.

Now he would want information. "What's his name?"

"Caleb Grimm. "

" He a nice guy?"

"Of course."

" How old?"

"twenty-five."

"What's he do?"

"He sings."

"He good?" He smiled at me.

I laughed, "Yes." he grabbed me and pulled me into a hug.

"I just don't want my baby sister hurt again alright?" I nodded. "I'm sorry if I'm pushy I just can't bear to see you like you were with that last rotten guy.
