Best Thing

Chapter 7

   I looked up and saw the crowd cheering loudly, and the rest of the guys were smiling at me and clapping with the rest of the crowd. Nobody has ever believed in me like Caleb just did.

    I stepped down the stage and my brother's and sister met me at my seat with high fives and "Great Job! I didn't know you had that in you!" I smiled at them and couldn't stop smiling. Did that really just happen? I pinched myself on the leg and looked up to see if anything had changed, but nothing had. I sat through the rest of the sermon incredibly happy. The past week has been perfect.

    After church the guys took us all out to dinner to Chick fil a. We sat down in one big booth and started talking.

"Leila your voice is amazing! Where did that come from?" Josh asked me.

"I'm not sure but thanks for just pulling me up onto stage Caleb." I said to Caleb who was sitting right across from me guzzling down his drink.

"You're welcome!" he said, "Everyone needed to hear you anyways."

"How did you hear me in the first place?" I said curiously."I mean my doors weren't open and neither were my windows, and unless you were inside my house..." I trailed off looking suspiciously at him.

He glanced at Alex who nodded. "I sent him a recording actually." Alex said,"You're good Leila, and I asked him what he thought, and obviously he thinks you're good if he pulled you up in front of our whole church."

Well, now I had no choice but to love my big brother.

"And one last thing," Caleb said gesturing towards the guys,"We would like to feature you on our new cover for the month."

"No way I can't do that, nobody knows who I am!" I said.

"They will soon though! Come on Leila please!" Caleb said putting out his lower lip.

"Please!!" The rest of the guys joined in and they all put out their lips and folded their hands, begging.

"Okay fine, but only once!" I said giving in.

"That's what they all say." Joey mumbled. I looked at him and rolled my eyes. There was no way I'd be doing this twice.

"Wait when will the cover come out then?" Ava asked her eyes getting huge. I knew exactly what she was getting to.

"In about 2 weeks if everything works out well, so to be exact March fourteenth?" Alan said expertly.

Ava fist pumped the air and let out a whoop.

"March fourteenth is her birthday and she's always wanted a birthday cover." I explained to them.

"Oh! That reminds me!" Chad says, "We have a birthday present for you Ava!"

"Really?" she said surprised.

"Yes! We are going to bring The George Twins over to the studio and have a big birthday party for you!" Chad said enthusiastically.

Ava sat there, mouth gaping wide open in shock. "That's amazing! I love those two! I can't believe you guys would do this for me!" she said, "I'm going to hug you all just as soon as we get out of this cramped booth!"

"Told you she would like it!" Chad said happily.

   We ate until our stomachs were full and hurting from laughing so much, and then said goodbye to each other. I really wish I could just live with these guys they were so great.

"We are recording Tuesday if that works for you Leila?" Caleb asked me.

"Sure does!" I told him even though it didn't. I would make it work.

"Great! I will pick you up around noon then!" He said about to walk away, but I grabbed his arm before he could get too far.

"Caleb thanks for doing what you did today." I said, "nobody has ever done something like that for me."

"Like what? Believe in you?" he said stunned. "Leila you are a very talented, and beautiful girl and I just wanted the whole world to see you."

   I was at a lose of words. I wasn't expecting that.

"God has made you so special and I'm so glad he put me with you." He smiled and walked off, and I just stood there like an idiot thinking about what he just said. I slowly picked out words little by little and put them together piece by piece. He was glad God put us together. And he thinks I'm beautiful, and talented. I may be the luckiest girl alive....
