Best Thing

Chapter 4

   When we walked into Starbucks we were immediately welcomed by Joey and Caleb. They both said hello and suddenly Caleb grabbed my arm and led me to a table, and Joey grabbed Sadie's arm and led her to a different table. A look of panic went over Sadie's face but was quickly replaced with a big grin.

 "Well hello to you too!" I said, laughing, "In a hurry to go somewhere?"

"Oh no I'm just really excited to start talking to you! You know I'd rather talk to you than Joey some days." Caleb said laughing.

"Well he's your best friend why would you want to talk to me over him?" I asked.

"Well, you're prettier." He said smoothly.

   I blushed, I couldn't believe him. "So should we start out by getting some drinks?" Caleb asked me.

"That would be great." I told him.

"And what would you like?" He said pretending to hold a notebook and a pen.

"Surprise me." I said.

"One surprise for the pretty lady, okay sweetheart I'll be right back." I laughed he was so cute.

I was thinking about how this would turn out when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and was looking Joey straight in the face. I backed up a little with surprise. "Hey Joey, what's up?" I said awkwardly.

   "What's Sadie's favorite drink here? I kind of forgot to ask her and I don't want to look stupid if I go back and ask her, please help me." He made a pouty face and quivered his lip.

"okay I would've helped you without all the funny faces, just get her some kind of frappe, she always gets a new kind every time." I said. I looked up and saw Caleb coming towards me with our drinks.

"Thanks a bunch!" Joey said and ran off.

"What was that about?" Caleb asked.

"Oh he just forgot to ask Sadie what she wanted before he ordered." I looked at him shaking my head, he laughed.

"He's Joey he's still learning." he said, "I guess the love doctor will just have to tell him how it's done."

"and who's that?" I looked up at him and smiled.

Caleb looked at me, bewildered, "Me of course, I'm the love doctor who else would it be?"

"I was thinking that guy sitting by the window,"I said, pointing to a thin man with long hair and a goatee, "He looks like just the guy."

"Well I'll tell you what if I don't prove to you that I am the love doctor by the time you are done with that drink, I'll have to take you out again." Caleb said with a smirk.

"Alright you've got yourself a deal there love doctor, lets shake on it." We shook hands, and sat in an awkward silence. Caleb was the first to break the silence.

"So have you always lived in Nashville or did you move here because I live here?" He said winking at me.

I laughed, "Well not exactly, I moved here just after I graduated because my two older brothers live here."

"You have two older brothers?" Caleb asked, looking intimidated.

"Yeah Josh and Alex, they're 26, they live right down the street from me." I said smiling. He was starting to look a little scared, so I added, "But they are really nice guys, wouldn't hurt a fly."

"Well that's good to know," he was looking more relieved, "Any other unknown family members I should know about?"

"Well there is this one uncle, he's escaped prison 4 times and was in a gang most of his life." I shuddered to make it look more believable, "But they've got him under heavy surveilance now a days, at least I hope so. He's pretty smart for a criminal."
