After a few more classes and lots of work, I went home. I had no homework because it was my first day, thankfully.
I sat down on my bed, and I thought about Julier. I didn't know what to say, and I didn't want to cheat on him nor did I want to break up with him after all he's done for me.
"Tony! Come downstairs, dinner time!" my mom, Aleisha said.
"Coming!" I responded.
I walked down the creaky stairs into the dining room. We bought a new table and chairs, as well as kitchen and living room furniture. We also needed to buy a Wi-Fi router. The service wasn't that great at my house. But, they're expensive. But, whatever.
I walked downstairs to see my mom and dad at the table eating burgers. I grabbed a plate and and sat down at the table.
"So how was your first day? Did you make any friends?" my mom asked.
"Yeah, his name is Alex," I said, "He's real nice and he sticks up for me."
"Oh, so is he like your new boyfriend?"
My dad, Tyler, stopped eating and looked at my mom. He'd always been mad at my homosexuality.
"What?" my mom asked.
"Aleisha, why the fuck would you say that?!"
"Tyler, just accept the fact that-"
"Shut up, Aleisha!" He got out of his chair and stomped down the hallway to my parents' room.
I started to cry. I wanted my family to be accepting but they didn't care.
"Aww, sweetie it's okay." my mom said, rubbing my head, "You know how your father is."
"I just want a family that supports me. I don't want one that wants people like me to go and die in hell." I said.
"I support you fully, it's just that your father doesn't."
"I want all of my family to support me, not just one person."
My mom sighed, "I'll go talk to him."
"Alright."
I walked upstairs and my mom walked down the hall to the bedroom.
I could hear distant yelling between the two.
Then my phone rang. It was Julier. I answered.
"Hey." I said.
"Oh, hey! I thought your service sucked back there." he said.
"It does, but not as much as you'd think, heh."
"So, how was your first day at a new school?"
"It was good, I made a friend on the way there."
"Oh wow, what are they like?"
"Well, he's nice and helpful and he sticks up for me."
Julier seemed quite shocked. "Oh wow, it's as if he's a new boyfriend." He chuckled.
"Yeah, heh..."
There was silence.
"He isnt, is he?" Julier said.
I decided to come clean.
"Listen, Julier, I love you very much, but... I feel like... he's better for me."
"Wh... wa... what?! I.. I.. I'm speechless right now! How could you, after all we've been through!"
"I just feel as if-"
"Shut up, Tony! We're through! As boyfriends, best friends, and friends in general! Good bye!"
The call ended there. I wanted to cry. I wished he would have taken it more nicely. I put the necklace on my dresser.
I just lied down in bed wanting to cry. I still wanted to be friends with him, but now he's gone forever. I bet he already blocked me. Whatever. All I wanted to do was cry into Alex's arms. I didn't want to think about Julier. That's the second promise broken.
