After some classes, as expected, storms came, so we had to eat inside for lunch. We sat down at our table and talked about a few things, trying to get off the subject, when all of a sudden on the PA someone said
"Attention all students! This is not a drill! A tornado is coming our way! Please enter the bathrooms and get down into tornado position! I repeat, this is not a drill!"
"Shit, c'mon!" Alex said as he grabbed my paw and rushed me to the nearest bathroom.
We leaned up against the wall, ducked down, and put our hands over our head. I heard more footsteps rushing in and yelling in the background. This was a tense moment, and words could not have explained how scared I was.
You could hear how heavily everyone was breathing.
We heard faint crumples of what seemed to be debris in the background. Alex, even in the tornado position, looked at me. He had tears in his eyes. He had the I-don't-want-to-die-today expression on him. We then heard faint wind. I held my hands tighter under my head, hoping that would make a difference.
Then, it hit us. I felt the whole bathroom shaking, I heard debris flying all around and falling and everyone in there screaming their heads off. It was so loud, I could barely hear Alex say "I don't want to die!" at the top of his lungs.
I felt wind above me. I felt it trying to pick me up. I stayed on the ground though. So did Alex. It passed over us and went on.

After some time went by in this uncomfortable position, we heard the sirens go off. The teacher in the bathroom told us that it was okay to stand up. We looked around.
What once was a blue and nice bathroom turned into a broken up pile of junk. Me Alex looked at each other.
We had tears in our eyes. We gave each other a long hug before staring into each other's eyes. There were no words.
We both ran out to see the town. It was a disaster. Where once were trees was not dirt. Where once was houses were now junk piles. It was a huge change. I saw my parents in the distance. I ran towards them and hugged them. They were crying.
"Oh, honey, are you okay, are you hurt?" my mom asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
My dad had a look of worry on his face as well. I didn't know why, he had always hated me.
"Is the house okay?" I asked.
"Yes, the tornado almost touched it though."
"Okay, good."
I looked back to see Alex with who seemed to be talking to his parents. He then ran over to me.
"Tony, I need place to stay, can I stay at your place until I get a new home?" he asked.
I looked at my parents, and they nodded.
"Yeah, you can stay."
"YES! Thank you so much!"
"Where are your parents going to stay?"
"They'll stay at a hotel for now."
"Alright."
We walked home, which wasn't that far. I would be spending weeks, maybe even months with Alex. This was going to be great.
