The boy in the hallway

Chapter 9

the entire way to the store I was just holding my fists together and trying not to let my thoughts take over. Aiden chatted to me about how Violet is annoying him and being too clingy.

"I just can't deal with people being clingy. you know what I mean?" Aiden goes on. 

I just kept nodding my head and making little 'mm' sounds of agreement.

Why do I have to be so socially awkward?

We arrive at the local Sainsburys and I take a breath of relief I didn't even realise I was holding in.  Aiden smiles at me as we enter, instantly melting my soft heart. 

"So what did you want to buy here?" 

Aiden beams at me "Ice cream!' 

I laugh "You deadass sound like a little kid in a store begging for ice cream" 

Aiden smirks before belting "YOU SCREAM, I SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!!!" 

People around us in the store give us odd looks but Aiden continues singing. I feel myself blush from how embarrassing the attention is. 

Aiden laughs and comes out of his little kid trance. "Ok but in all seriousness I want to get some ice cream for my little sister." 

"Awh, I didn't know you had a younger sister" 

Aiden chuckles "Yup. She's a right little troublemaker. and she's in love with ice cream, and I promised her I'd get her some!" 

"Ok well what kind does she like?" I ask.

"She loves chocolate, and especially cookie dough." 

I laugh "Nice basic taste she has." 

Aiden grins "Oh yeah? what kind of ice cream do you like?" 

"I like simple vanilla." 

Aiden gasps dramatically "You only like vanilla!? wow you are so boring"

I sarcastically gasp and put my hand on my heart "Well vanilla is absolute class so don't you dare diss it" 

Aiden laughs and heads over to open the ice cream freezer. "Well I'm getting my sister her favourites and I'll get you some basic vanilla." 

"Oh well what are your favourite flavours, huh?" 

Aiden smirks "I like candyfloss and mint choc chip." 

Did he really just-

"Aiden candyfloss is our egg baby's name" I laugh.

"I know but in ice cream form it tastes hella good" He smiles.

We hold eye contact for about two seconds and then he goes over to the till to pay. "is that all?" the cashier says bluntly. 

"Uhh, yeah if I wanted anything else then I would get it" Aiden jokes. 

I snort loudly. Aiden looks at me and bursts out laughing.

"Did you just snort?!" He chuckles. 

"Yes. yes I did" I say through fits of laughter. 

"Are you going to pay or not!!?" The shop keeper says bringing me and Aiden out of our laughter. 

"Oh right, yeah sorry" Aiden mumbles passing him the money. We take our ice cream and rush out the shop. 

"Well he was friendly?" I joke.

Aiden laughs and holds eye contact with me for longer than I normally feel comfortable. 

"Hey so I'll see you at school tomorrow?" I say trying to break the eye contact. 

Aiden snaps out of it "Yeah uh sure." 

I begin to walk towards my road but then I hear Aiden calling my name. 

"Well hey. I mean we got let out early. We have the whole afternoon?" Aiden grins.

Oh my god I'm going to pass out AGAIN

"Yeah I guess we do." 

Aides comes a bit closer to me "So uh what do you wanna do?" 

I gulp loudly. damn I hope he didn't hear it. 

"Whatever you want" 

Well that's dodgy for me to say. shit what if he makes me do something crazy. 

Aiden grins "Well then let's go to my house and eat ice cream and watch disney movies with my sister!" 

Who knew that the most popular guy in school was really a big softie who watches disney in his spare time? 

I laugh and nod. Aiden beams at me and we start walking just around the corner towards his house.
