The boy in the hallway

Chapter 12

"Isabel. wake up." a voice whispers to me quietly. 

I open my eyes and see the blue sky above me. 

huh. that's weird I swear I was inside.

I try to get up and then I realise that I am lying on a pineapple lilo, floating in Aiden's pool. 

and I am fully clothed.

"AIDEN!!' I laugh yelling at him. Aiden and Daisy laugh from the side of the pool.

"You're a really deep sleeper" Aiden says through laughter. 

"I swear to fuck I'm gonna kill you-" I reach out towards Aiden in frustration but somehow forget that I'm on a freaking floatie in a pool, I feel my weight move off the lilo and I go head first into the freezing cold pool.

well shit.

I can hear Aiden and Daisy laughing from the side as I burst up from the water breathing heavily.

time for revenge.

"No Aiden, please I can't swim!" I wave my arms above my head and pretend to start struggling. 

I watch Aiden's face go from amusement to alarm. His eyes widen and he rapidly takes off his shirt and dives into the pool.

He swims towards me and wraps his strong arms around me. he then 'guides' me to the side of the pool looking worried. "I'm so sorry Isabel it was a joke, I had no idea you couldn't swim- I feel awful- please forgi-" I cut off his rant and splash water in his face.

Aiden double takes and looks at me confused. 

I grin and start splashing him with water and I move away from the side swimming perfectly even with the weight of my clothes dragging me down.

I've been having swimming lessons since I was 8 bitch.

Aiden realises what I was doing the whole time and he chuckles and swims towards me for revenge attack. I squeal and quickly swim away from him laughing. Aiden catches up with me and grabs me by my arm pulling me into his chest. 

We are so close I can feel his breath on my neck. Normally my anxiety personal space radar would be screaming but suprisingly I feel calm. We stay afloat holding each other and holding eye contact for what feels like forever.

"Uhh what are you guys doing?" Daisy says breaking us out of our momentary trance.

Aiden coughs and pulls away from me and gets out the pool. I follow him out and grab a towel from the bench. Aiden looks at me and smiles warmly.

We walk back inside his house and sit on the sofa waiting to dry off. 

"That was fun" Aiden says breaking the awkward tension.

"Yeah. Yeah it was"

Aiden smiles "Uh do you want anything?" 

"No I'm ok, and I should probably go home as my mum will be wondering where I am."

"Oh yeah of course" Aiden smiles and walks with me to the door.

I put my shoes on and pass the towel back to Aiden. 

"Hey I'm uh sorry about making you spend the day with me and you know, throwing you in the pool and everything." Aiden says looking at the floor.

"It's ok. I had fun" I smile and open the door 

"I'll see you at school then?" Aiden asks hopefully.

"Yep. I'll see you in bio tomorrow morning." I grin. 

He smiles and closes the door and waves goodbye through the glass. I smile and wave back and start walking around the corner towards my road.
