Nicole's P.O.V.
We all got in a taxicab to go to VidCon. I was having my first meet & greet today with Ashley. Dan and Phil are also doing a meet & greet, and they're not that far away from Ashley and I.
I'm still in shock from what Phil and Ashley told us this morning. I would've never guessed it. I decided to not speak of it again unless it was necessary, but I have a ton of questions. Pissing them off isn't my intention, so I'm not gonna say anything else.
Once we get to VidCon, I hold hands with Dan and we walk around, until we find the place where the meet & greets were held. We have security around us so we don't end up getting mobbed.
"Do you want me to walk you to yours?" Dan asks.
"That'd be nice," I say with a little smile.
Once we get to my signing, Dan gives me a kiss. I hear a bunch of wolf-whistling and some boos, and I start to laugh. "Love you," he says.
"Love you too."
I stand next to Ashley. I'm so glad to have her as a best friend. I can literally tell her anything. "Ashley, people are giving us so much shit," I say. There were a lot of negative comments on me and Dan's relationship lately.
"Just don't pay attention to them," she says.
"You don't understand. His fans think I'm using him but I love him for him."
"I have no idea how to help here. I've never been in this situation. When we were together, there weren't many negative comments. If there were, it would've just been biphobic assholes who didn't know shit."
"I'll try to get it out of my head. It's gonna be difficult," I say feeling very worried.
"I'm here for you."
Our first fan comes up to meet us. "Hi!" she says.
"Hey, what's your name?" Ashley asks.
"Cece, it's so nice to meet you guys!" she says as she gives me a hug. She then gives Ashley a hug. "By the way, you and Dan are so cute!" I smile.
"Thank you Cece!" I say.
"Can I get a picture with you guys?" Cece asks.
"Of course," Ashley responds.
Cece gives the phone to me to take the picture. "Just because you're the tall one," she says. I start to laugh.
"I know I'm a giant," I say while laughing. We take the picture and hand the phone back to Cece.
"I love you guys so much!" she says and waves goodbye.
The whole meet & greet was so fun. it lasted about an hour. I had to be at a panel at 3:00pm. During the meet & greet, I could see Dan and Phil. Dan and I exchanged glances a few times.
This panel is gonna be great. I'm so excited. Phil and Ashley have their own tickets to see our panel. I wonder how that's gonna go...
The other Youtubers in the panel are Tyler Oakley, Marcus Butler, Hannah Hart, Lilly Singh, and Caspar Lee.
Everybody's on the stage at this point. Dan and I are sitting next to each other. I look out into the crowd. "There are so many people, holy shit," I whisper to Dan.
"I know, right?" he whispers back. The interviewer asks questions about our relationship.
"Well she makes me really happy. I was kind of Nicole trash. Not gonna lie," Dan says. I hear a bunch of cheering in the crowd and Tyler starts to laugh. God, I love his laugh. I hear a bunch of negative comments too, making me feel self-conscious.
"Yeah, I love him so much. I was Dan trash, and well I still am," I say while looking at Dan. There was one comment in the crowd that made tears form in my eyes a little.
"WHORE! Using him for views!" I hear. But I went along with the panel.
Once the panel ended, I walk with Dan, but I refuse to hold hands with him. I don't want anyone discriminating me or Dan. That comment is still eating at my brain, and my anxiety starts to act up. I breathe in and out. Once we get back to our hotel, I speak up. "Baby, we need to talk once we get to my hotel room," I tell him. He looks worried.
We finally get to my hotel room.
"Dan..." I say, "I can't do this. We can't be together if our subscribers are gonna discriminate our relationship."
"NO! I can't lose you, Nicole. I never knew what love was until I met you. I don't know what I would do without you," Dan says back, almost starting to cry.
"I don't want to either.. but I feel like if we continue we're screwed," I say back, holding him and letting him cry into my arms. "What if my friends hate me for this? Everyone except Ashley, Louise and Phil thinks I'm just using you, and I can tell, but I truly love you. It's a shame."
"Babe, we can't break up over something like this," Dan says.
"So, what should we do?"
There's almost a minute of silence between us. All of a sudden, Dan has me up against the wall.
"I'm gonna show you how much I love you," he says, his voice deeper than usual.
I try to say something, but he leans in and gives me the most loving and breathtaking kiss.
I never wanted it to end.
