Abigail wakes up at 7.30 and realizes what happened the night before. She feels sad and hurt but also determined to meet her birth mother. She wonders what will happen and...
G:"Earth to Abby?"
A:"Hum, sorry Gracie, I was daydreaming"
G:"You were, you always are"
A:"Yeah, I'm worried about our meeting. I don't think Hope Solo knows who I am and she doesn't want to meet me and I'm not good enough and..."
G:"Geez, Abigail, calm down. Breathe. You're not alone, your team will support you no matter what."
A:"I know, it's just going to be awkward and...painful somehow"
G:"It's going to be great I promise. Now, speaking of important things, do you prefer pancakes or waffles?"
AT SCHOOL
School days are slow and Abigail doesn't really enjoy staying sit and still for more than 5 periods. Finally, the last bell rings and Abby realizes that it's time for soccer practice.
The team meets on the field and, after two hours, is ready for the meeting with the women's national team.
The girls are on the bus, excited and happy about this amazing opportunity they've been given. Well, almost everybody.
Abby is staring at the window, listening to Michelle Branch. She just wants to cry and run away. She thinks she's not going to be good enough and she knows that meeting her birth mother is going to be an epic fail.
*'cause you're everywhere to me, and when I close my eyes it's you I see,
you're everything I know that makes me believe, I'm not alone*
C:"Hi Abby, how are you feeling?"
A:"I'm feeling useless and worthless, coach. I know this meeting is a great opportunity for us, but I don't feel like going out there, playing soccer two feet away from Hope Solo and pretending that everything is fine"
C:"I know this is painful, but we know your talent and your value. You'll have the chance to be noticed by Jill Ellis and you can play with the best forwards and goalies in the world. I'm sure..."
A:"You're sure about what?"
C:"I'm sure Hope Solo, your mother, will be really proud of you"
Abby cries and hugs her coach. "Maybe this isn't going to be a total disaster, maybe."
Hey guys, this is chapter 3, hope you like it. Let me know what you think and tell me if there's any ship you'd like to sail. Thanks :)
