Hopeful fighter

CHAPTER 9

The women's national team and Abigail arrive at Millcity Stadium at 9.30 and immediately start their practice.

Abigail is working with the other goalies and is doing her best. She's never felt like this before, she's confident and pushes herself over her limits because she wants everybody to know that she's a damn good player who deserves a spot on the squad.

The gals are really impressed and ask her about her soccer career.

A:" Well, I started playing when I was about 4 years old with my neighbors Brooklyn and Noah and I fell in love with soccer straight away. I guess that playing built a connection between my birth mother and I, I wanted to be just like her. She was, she is, and always will be my role model, no matter how much I've suffered for this whole time. But when my adoptive parents found out I played soccer, they became angrier and angrier as the time progressed and they hit me. So I stopped, but I've never stopped loving the game. In fact, last year, when I was a freshmen, I did the soccer tryouts and I was accepted into the varsity squad. I was so proud of myself and that's when I stopped worrying about my adoptive parents hitting me, because I knew I'd eventually seen my birth mother and I wanted to show her how I good I was, make her proud and make her regret abandoning me. I was mad at the world but then I found Luke... But this is another story ahah"

A-H:" You're a really tough girl, I like your attitude and your personality. I'm... I'm really impressed"

T-H:" Yeah, same. You've been through hell but geez, you've become an amazing person"

E:" Oh yeah!"

A:" Thank you guys, but there was a motto that kept me alive. It says:" I've always found myself to come out stronger than before""

C-L:" That's what Hope says"

A:" I know, and I want you to know, Hopey, that you shaped my personality. You've always been there for me and I don't want to leave you anymore"

E:" Awe, so cute :3"

H-S:" I'll never leave you kid"

G-M:" Oh yes, you will leave her!"

George and Gwen Morris enter the stadium, followed by 5 policemen and 2 social workers. The gals look worried and scared and Hope pulls her daughter into a hug and whispers that everything is going to be fine.

J-E:" What's going on here? May I help you?"

S-W:" Yes ma'am. My name is Diana Kingston and I'm a social worker"

H-S:" And what do you want from us?"

G-M:" We want our daughter back, you kidnapped her!" (shouting)

G-M:" George, stop, you're scaring her. Hey honey..."

A:" Don't "hey honey" me. I don't want to come back! I want to stay here, with Hope and the gals, they love me!"

G-M:" Oh, no. You're not staying here with these bitches, let's go!" (he grabs Abby's arm and pulls her closer)

A:" Don't you fucking dare to touch me! You're monsters and I hate you!"

Policeman:" You have to come with us kid. They're your legal guardians and since you're just 15 you need to do everything you're told" (sad)

A:" But I want to stay here, with Hope and the others. I feel safe and loved with them by my side. Please officer, please, I'm begging you. They hit me" (crying)

Policeman:" I'm sorry kid but you have to come with us. They're your parents."

H-S:" I'm her birth mother and I want her to stay with me. What do I have to do to have her back?"

G-M:" You'll never have her back, ever!" (shouting)

Policeman:" Mr. Morris! Anyway Ms. Solo, if you want your daughter back, you will go through a trial and you'll have to be very confident because the Morris' are rich and important people and it's not going to be easy"

A:" Sorry officer but I can't go back with them anymore, they hit me" (crying)

Policeman:" I understand kid, but you can't stay with Ms. Solo as well"

A:" Why not?"

Policeman:" Because you can influence the result of the trial. So since you can't stay with both of your "families", you'll have to be put in a foster care"

A:" No, I don't want to. I want to stay here with them"

Policeman:" I'm afraid you can't kid"

A-K:" I'll take care of her. I don't want her to be alone and I can't stand this situation. I'll look after her"

S-W:" Are you sure Ms. Krieger?"

A-K:" Positive. Just please, let her stay with me"

A-H:" With us"

A-K:" Really Ashlyn? Will you do this for me? (smiling)

A-H:" For us" (smiling)

S-W:" I need you ladies to sign up few papers but, once you're done, Abby is free to be with you"

A-A:" Awesome!"

A:" Thanks guys! I'll behave I promise" (smiling)

H-S:" Guys I'll never be thankful enough. Thank you so much for doing this"

A-H:" Sure Solo, we're a family"

Abby is really happy but at the same time, she's sad. Hope notices and hugs her.

A:" I'll miss you Hopey. I don't want to leave you :( " (crying)

H-S:" I'll miss you too sweetie, be good fro Ashlyn and Ali, alright? They're doing this for us. I promise that we'll be together soon"

A:" Hopey...?" (softly)

H-S:" Yeah?" (smiling)

A:" We will be back together, right?"

H-S:" We will honey"

A:" Hopey?"

H-S:" What's going on?"

And Abby just jumps in her arms and, resting her head on the chest, slowly whispers "I love you". Hope whips away her tears and responds the most sincere "I love you too".
