When the first song ended, two more songs were hot at heels, which disallowed Holden from any conversation with his partner of the night.

Finally, when the third song came to an end, he immediately turned to her as the microphones were turned off.

"Hey," he greeted.

"Hello." she smiled, tightening the ponytail that was high up on her head.

Before he could carry on, Larry walked up onto the stage. Holden immediately turned to him. "Thanks a lot, Larry."

Larry let out a chuckle. "Well, the person you should be thanking isn't me," he said, gesturing to the girl whom he hadn't gotten the name of.

"Right," Holden corrected. "Thank you so much for your help tonight."

"Don't worry about it," she replied, shaking her head.

Holden couldn't help but notice how her ponytail stopped just right above her collarbone, the ends resting nicely on her shoulder with a slight curl.

He snapped his gaze back to hers, and stretched out his hand. "I'm Holden."

"Kayla," she introduced, accepting his hand and giving it a firm shake - something that Holden was pretty impressed about.

That was a nice, confident handshake.

Larry then clapped his palms together. "Alright, shall we head down for a drink, before you two continue for the rest of the night?"

They descended down the steps, taking seats at the corner right next to the stage. Two glasses of Bacardi were already resting on the table, with water droplets starting to form a small puddle underneath it.

Larry excused himself, and the two began to sip on their drinks.

"So, how did Larry find you?" Even though Holden was relieved at the fact that he was saved by Kayla, he was also extremely curious on the substitute that Larry managed to find within the span of five minutes.

Kayla let out a small laugh. "I was actually an audience tonight."

"He just randomly picked someone from the crowd?"

This time, she burst out into laughter.

"Well, kind of. He recognized me as a previous singer at the pub three doors down, so he almost went down on his knees for me to salvage the show tonight."

"I see. I haven't seen you around here though."

"And me, you."

The conversation ended when the band took their positions once again.

Holden and Kayla followed suit, but Holden had one thing set in his mind.

He was going to make sure that this wasn't the last time he's going to see Kayla.
