Aisake POV
To be honest, I'm not too excited about this whole arrangement either.

My father expects me to do great things, and by marrying the chief he thinks that means I become chief. I don't want to marry Moana. Yes, she beautiful but she's also headstrong, stubborn, and prideful.
I want someone who I choose, not someone who my dad or even the previous chief chooses! I want someone to love me for me.

Sina and Tui lead me out of the hut and we go to find Moana. It's really awkward with them, even though Sina is very nice and comforting. I can tell they are sorry that I had to see Moana run off like she did, but truthfully, it was a huge relief.

"She's out on the reef," Sina stated. We walked to the shore and we saw Moana sitting on her canoe with... Maui?

Moana's POV
I wiped the final tear I probably will shed in a long time and look up at Maui, realizing I was still hugging him. I jump back and rub my arm nervously.

"I-I'm sorry. That was awkward," I sighed, looking down at the floor of the canoe. Then, Maui lifts my head up to look him in the eye, which makes me blush profusely.

"Hey, it's okay. Like I said, I'll be your shoulder to lean on any time," Maui smiled. Now I was turning a blood red from Maui acting all lovey-doveyish. Or whatever. Romance isn't really my thing. I wish I could tell him how much he means to me, yet I just can't.

"Moana! Come here!" I hear my mother call. I roll my eyes and look at Maui.

"Gotta go," I mumbled. Maui jumped off and took fish form and swam off. I waved and headed toward the shore.

"Moana, why did you just run off?" Mother asked. I tried not to roll my eyes.

"Hmm... well I just got pushed into a relationship which I have no say on, so that could be a factor," I snapped. I immediately regretted it after I looked to see my fathers disappointed face. I look to Aisake to see him hurt but his face stayed solemn and he just slightly nodded like he understood. I sigh, glad to know he doesn't like what's going on either.

"Moana, you don't want to let your people down," dad stated, resting a hand on my shoulder.

"Oh no, I'm totally going to let them down cause gods forbid their chief can't marry whenever she wants," I snapped. My father's eyebrows furrowed and he grabbed my shoulder forcefully.

"Come on. We're heading to your hut," he stated as we walked off. While we were walking, I heard mom apologizing to Aisake. I don't get why she is, I just stated facts.

Maui's POV

I flew over the island and landed on the roof of Moana's tent as a insect, so they can't hear me. I acted rude and eavesdropped on Moana on the beach as a form of a crab. I know it's wrong but I wanna make sure she's okay.

"Dad! No! You can't do that!" I hear Moana screech.

"I can and I will." Tui stated sternly.

"I'm the chief."

"I'm your father," he yelled, then slammed the twine door of the hut. I crawled down the roof and into the hut. Moana was crying on her cot.
I then transformed into my regular demigod form.

"Hey," I smiled. She looks up and her face lit up like stars in the sky.

"Maui!" She almost screamed, jumping into my arms and giving me a hug. My face reddens but I try to hold it in.
Moana backs off and her face turns cherry red.

"Sorry-I-you, that was unexpected, I apologize," Moana said, barely over a whisper. I went in to hug her this time, overwhelmed by each other's pacing heartbeats.

"It's fine," I say."What happened?" She punches me in the arm playfully and smirks.

"Where you eavesdropping on me?"

I rolled my eyes.

"Well, maybe. But I just heard the last part, I swear," I stated. She rolls her eyes and runs a hand through her hair then exhaled sharply. She looked down and folded her hands, probably contemplating on what to say next.

"My father, he's not so happy with my reaction to Aisake, so, there's no more maybe," Moana was shaking now, and I reached my hands out to steady her.

"What do you mean by 'no more maybe'?" I ask. I see a tear stream down her face, and I wipe it with my thumb. She returns the favor with a sweet smile. My heart is basically doing backflips out of my chest.
Oh gods I'm in love.

"There was a maybe. Half half chance of me and Aisake. The suitor had a chance to object. Gaahh!" She throws her foot down and runs her hands through her hair, "but I ruined it. My sucky attitude, I mean. I ran off, yelled at dad, and offended Aisake. So now..."

Moana puts her hands to her face.
"Now dad wants us to marry in a month!" She sobs, barely audible. My heart shatters into a million pieces.

If only I told her sooner.
