Me and Maui sat side by side on the canoe, my head rested on his shoulder. We watched the sun set together. I remembered that night when I confessed my love to him and my father caught us.
I felt like someone was watching us, and anxiety felt like a grip on my shoulder.
"Maui, I feel like someone is fallowing us," I state, my voice shaky, "following you."
"What?" he asks, clearly confused. He looks around and tries to stand up, yet I grab his hand and tank him down.
"Maui please," I plead, my voice shaky, "I think you should get off the boat. Take fish form for a few minutes. Please." He gives me an unsure glance but then sighs.
"Whatever, curly," he sighs, turning into a fish and going in the water. My anxiety goes down and I snap into reality.
Did you really just do that? I think, Did you really tell him to get off the boat because of your anxiety? My face flushed and I realize what a idiotic move that was.
I was about to call his name to come back on the boat when I catch something off the corner of my eye.
Another canoe? Not just any canoe, a canoe from my island?
•Meanwhile•
Inu grabbed his telescope and zoomed in on the tiny speck he knew was Moana's canoe.
"See anything unusual, men?" He asked his fellow crew members, "if you do, remember our orders." He glanced down at the bows and arrows.
"Yes, sir," a crewman saluted.
"Nothing here," Inu said. "Let's back off a bit. Check in a few hours. For now, rest."
•back to Moana•
I squint my eyes and see the tiny dot disappear. Could it have been Dad? No, he doesn't know the ocean as well as I do.
All I know is that someone, something is following us, someone from my island.
