Maui's POV
I sat there with her on the cot, having to listen to her rant about what she calls her "sucky life". I don't mind though. I could listen to her all day.

"Heh, that was awkward," she smiles, "again." I smile and hug her.

"Follow me," I whisper. The sun was setting and I helped her sneak out the window onto the roof. She gives me a questioning glance.

"Will Dad see us?" Moana asked.

"He's in the council hut discussing wedding plans. I may have eavesdropped there, too," I shrug. Moana rolls her eyes and we climb out the window.

We make it up to the roof as soon as purples, oranges, pinks and black streak across the sky as the sun sets. I see Moana look at it awestruck, pointing at the multicolored sky. She smiles at me and leans into my shoulder, and my heart soars.

Moana's POV

My heart is swelling with joy as I lean in to Maui's warm chest. I can feel his racing heart a I run my fingers over the tattoo of me on his chest. He looks down and smiles at me.

"Maui," I say, blushing, "Have you... have you ever been in love before."

"Yeah," he says scanning the stars, avoiding eye contact.

"Can you tell me about her? Or, whoever." Maui sighs and stares at me.

"You really wanna know?" He asks. I nod. "When I was around your age, I got married to a villager. It was unjust, I fooled her and told her I was a voyager from a far off land." I scootch closer, wanting to get as much info as possible.

"Her name was Hina. She and I got married when we where both twenty. Like, I was actually twenty years old. Not centuries, just, ya know, average. She realized I was a demigod after I slowed down the sun for her. She..." Maui smiled fondly and looked up at the sky, "she loved me anyway. We had no children because of me. I was afraid I was going to hurt her. She died from a sickness when she was only thirty." Maui sighed and a tear dripped down his face and I gently wipe it off. "After that, I, I promised myself I'd never get too attached to a mortal again."

I feel a pang in my chest, all hope of us being anything just faded away. I sigh and rub his back.

"Sorry Maui," that's all I could get out right now. Maui pats my hand and smiles at me.

"But," Maui smiled, holding my hand, "Some curly haired, non princess, came along and changed that. She showed me anyone can change, for better. She made me love again." My eyes open wide.

"What do you mean, Maui?" I ask, hoping the darkness of the night will hide my red face. He lifts his hand to my chin and pulls me close.

"It means, I, I love you Mo," Maui let the words escape his mouth quickly. I gasp then smile and give him a hongi.

"I love you too," I whispered in the heat between us as he started leaning in. I let my eyes shut and press my nose onto his. He then puts his hands to my cheeks and leans in. The space in front of both of us seals as he kisses me on the lips. I hesitate at first but then fall into his loving trance, smiling after we pull apart.

I then giggle like a child and we embrace each other, gazing at the stars.
