Chapter 16

The next morning, I woke up with Joey's face in front of mine. I smiled a bit and looked at my hands.

No wedding ring.

Oh 💩, we're not married anymore, I thought to myself. I jump in my seat and gasp loudly and Joey's beautiful eyes flutter open.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you." I gasped with my hands over my mouth.

"Eh, its fine. I was bound to wake up anyways." He yawned while getting out of bed and putting back on his shirt.

I then heard a knock at the door. I went to open it and look through the peep hole to see Joe.

"Nina, I have a surprise for you." I heard him say.

"Oh my god, no."

Joey comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist. "What's wrong?"

I turn around making him release me. "Joe's here."

His eyes got wider. "He can't know I'm here."

"Well, hide!" I whispered screamed. He quickly ran into the bathroom and quietly closed the door. I opened the door and was attacked by Joe's lips hitting mine and his arms wrapping around my waist.

"I missed you last night." He smiled when I saw his full face.

"I missed you too." I lied.

"Who were you talking to earlier? I thought I heard voices." He put his bag on the extra bed. "And why is this bed unmade? You only sleep in that one."

"Oh um...I was on the phone with Alexa just a second ago and I let Meghan stay the night but she just ran out to go see someone." I lied again.

He's gonna find out eventually, you skank, I thought to myself.

"Oh, well. I have something for you."

I nervously smiled. I don't deserve anything after last night with Joey.

He grabbed his bag and pulled out a bouquet of red roses. I smiled and my cheeks started turning red.

"Awh, Joe." I sniffed the beautiful batch of flowers and looked at him. "They're beautiful."

"Only for you, love." He then kissed me lovingly on the cheek.

I grabbed his neck and pulled him in for a kiss. "I love you." I said deep into the kiss.

"I love you too." He said back. He started to lift up my shirt until I started to tense up. He released me and his smiled faded.

"I'm sorry." He said faintly.

"It's okay. I'll see you later, okay?" I held his hand. He kissed mine and left out the door. I knocked on the bathroom door and Joey came out crying.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"You guys are perfect together." He sobbed.

"I asked you what's wrong, not to state obvious facts."

"No, I mean why do you have to be in such a perfect relationship but I'm having trouble even letting Daniel touch me nowadays."

"Aw, Joey. It's gonna be okay. You guys will work it out somehow. Just always have faith, alright?"

He sat on the bed and put his hands on his knees. "What if it never works out? We've never ad a fight that's lasted this long? Does that mean me and Daniel aren't meant to be?"

I sat next to him and put my arm around his shoulder. "You guys are meant to be, just not at this moment. Sure you have some bumps in the road, but after all of this is all over, it'll be smooth sailing. Just like when we were together."

"But what if it doesn't? What if I end up being without him in my life? I don't want to be alone for the rest of my life, and I don't think I could live without him in it either."

"Then why don't you just tell him that? That would only make sense."

"But he won't even talk to me. He thinks I'm still in love with you."

"Just tell him you only love him, not me. I love Joe and I can't keep this relationship alive if I'm still having an affair with you."

"We just need to say we've moved on basically."

"And I just need to keep quiet about what happened last night."

"Alright, so what do I do first?"

"Just catching his attention is the first step. Then tell him how you feel. About how I'm not your main priority but he is. Then let him tell you what's wrong and why he's upset."
