Day 2- "Two Turtle Doves" (Pet)

"Makoto? I'm home." Kyoko called into their large, shared home.

"Ah, coming! I got you something, Kyoko!" Her husband gave a dorky grin as he scurried over, an animal carrier in-hand. "I was gonna put it in a box, but I know you're not really comfortable with um, wrapped presents." He mumbled, placing the carrier on the ground and opened it.

She could now see a cat, laying in the carrier contentedly. It was white with black spots, and faded green eyes. "Her name is Oreo Cream, I got her from a shelter." Makoto smiled at the animal fondly. "I know being a detective is really stressful, so if you come home and I'm still at work, maybe she'd um, be able to-" The Ultimate Hope slowly began to babble, but was interrupted with a hug. "I love her, Makoto. She's lovely." Kyoko kissed Makoto's nose to show her gratitude, and he turned beet red, still flustered by any sort of affection.

That night, the family sat in front of the fire and cuddled, Makoto and his wife drinking hot cocoa with their new member of the family, who had found comfort on the detective's lap. Neither of the two were very keen on having kids anytime soon, but perhaps such a sweet little cat could be an exception.
