I hear Inseong sobbing through the phone while he says hi. My mind goes to panic mode but I do my best to try to keep calm and talk to him.
- Hi, babe. What happened?
- Too much.
He breaths heavily a few times before continuing.
- He listened to my mom and then listened to me but then... He...
He's sobbing so much I can't understand what he's saying.
- He started screaming... And he asked my mom to wait outside... He locked us inside the room so she couldn't come in.
At this point Inseong was half whispering and half trying to breath. So I try to calm him by speaking on a smooth voice.
- Babe, it's ok. I'm here for you. Just tell me what happened, ok?
He breaths heavily a few more times.
- He shouted the whole time. He said a lot of mean things about me being just too lazy to study law and stuff. The worst part was when he asked if this was about you...
- What did you say?
- I said that my decision had nothing to do with you but when he asked why I wouldn't leave I just... I said that I couldn't leave because I love you. You know that I love you, right Yoonie?
- Of course. And I love you too.
- He called me a lot of names. Homophobic ones. I still can hear those words on my head. It was so bad. And then he slapped me. He never slapped me before. It was really strong. He said I can't leave the house anymore. He said I can't see you, Yoonie. I want to see you...
He whines and cries again. My heart is beating fast. I don't know if it's from anger or sadness. I feel broken.
- Do you want me to come over?
- No. My dad would find you and I don't want anything to happen to you.
- We're gonna figure this out together, ok? I'm sure it's going to be ok.
- How can you be sure, Yoonie?
- Because I love you and I'm not going to allow things to go wrong. If it's not ok it's because it's not over. I'm fighting for your happiness. I care about it more than anything.

- You did.
His breathing is back to normal now.
- Are you smiling?

We stay in silence for minutes, listening to each other's breathing.
- I miss sleeping next to you.

- When can I see you again?
- I don't know... My dad's gonna be working home for a while to keep an eye on me.
- Have you talked to your mom?

I laugh a little.

- Are you pouting right now? I can nearly see you pouting.

I laugh loudly.
- Oh, straight to the deep questions. Only after you ask me to marry you.

He stays silent for a while, then I realize he's probably thinking about his own dad.
- I should let you sleep now. You have class tomorrow.

- Yes, you never sang for me because you're embarrassed to sing in front of me. It's your chance, come on. I'll sing with you.

- Anything is good. I'll put you on speaker and sing along until I fall asleep.
