Today is a beautiful day. It's just a regular Monday but everything about it seems special in my eyes. There's no clouds, the sky is a beautiful shade of blue and the wind is soft. The ocean is calm and good for swimming. I'm chilling on my usual spot, a big rock close to the sea. This area is far from everything so no one comes here. I spend most of my days here thinking, appreciating the view and swimming.
The view got a little different around 3 p.m when a boy slowly walked past me, looking down. I don't think I know him. I immediately follow the boy.
- Are you okay? You look upset. - he looks at me like he is not sure I'm talking to him.
- I'm fine...
- You're new here, right?
- Yes, how you figured?
- It's a small town, and you're not on my school. - I shrug and he hums in response. - I'm Jaeyoon by the way.
- Inseong.
- Nice to meet you. Now, are you telling me why you're upset? - He smiles weakly.
- It's nothing really. I just don't know what to do with my life.
- Does anyone know? - he laughs before replying.
- My parents want me to go to university to help them work on the family company but I don't want to work with them. The problem is I don't have an alternative. I can't just say this isn't my dream if I don't have a dream.
- I get it. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do when I graduate either.
- I graduated last year.
- Really? So you're older than me. Should I call you hyung? - he laughs lightly.
- If you want to.
- Ok. Where are you living, hyung?
- A couple miles from the direction I came from. We're on a family vacation. Or something like that.
- Jeez, you like to walk.
- It clears my mind.We walk in silence for a while.
- Hey, that's my house over there, wanna come over?
- Sure.
___________________________________- Nice playground.
- It came with the house. My parents say they didn't get rid of it because my children are gonna use it since I couldn't. - I chuckle.
- How long have you been living here?
- A few years. It was horrible at first but I like it now.
- Why was it horrible? - he asks while sitting on the swing.
- I wasn't a popular kid or anything, but I had friends, good ones. I know what people say about how you can keep in touch and stuff, but that's not true. I never came back there, they never visited me here. - I shrug, getting sad with the subject.
- But you made friends here, right?
- Not exactly. I mean, I have a few classmates that I do projects for the school but I never got a close friend.
- How? You're so nice and cute. - I might have blushed with that comment.
- Thanks, hyung. I enjoy living by the sea though. I love everything about it.
- Ok, it's decided. I'll be your friend for now on. You can show me the town and the places you like. - I give him a thankful smile and we stay in silence. Then I walk him home when the sun is starting to set.
- Can I see you again tomorrow, hyung?
- Of course. Where?
- I'll wait for you on the rock I was today after I have lunch.
- Ok, see you tomorrow.
- See you.
