PART 15

The first thing that I saw was the blaring lights coming from the stage. The screams of teenage girls deafened me. The boys started singing, and after a while we started to dance. They performed three songs before we had a break and they sang a slower song. We were sat backstage talking when Jay appeared.

“Jay what are you doing here? Why aren’t you onstage?” Alice asked.

“We need all five of you. Onstage. Now.” He said seriously, but we could see a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, so we followed him onstage. The other boys were stood waiting for us, so we automatically went and hugged them.

“Okay guys so these are our dancers,” Nathan said, “This is Cassie, Alice, Chloe, Lucy and Rachel,” I blushed when he got to my name, “And we would like to dedicate this next song to them.” He went and sat by a piano, and gestured for me to sit next to him. The music to Personal Soldier started playing. I grinned. He knew this was my favorite song, I told him in the van the first time we met. Soon Nathan had turned to me and was singing every lyric to me. I could feel myself blushing, but that only made him smile more.

...I'll be your hero whose standing strong

Who protects you from any fight

And if your battles are piling on

I will take them on with all my might

Cry your tears on my shoulder

You don't know what the future holds

So I'll be your personal soldier...

Soon the song ended, and the audience burst into applause. Everyone else bowed, including the other boys and walked offstage but before I could, Nathan grabbed my arm to stop me.

“Okay before we go, I need to ask you something Rachel.” I looked up at him. He took my hand and stepped closer to me. “Will you be my girlfriend?”
