PART 2
Waiting to do our audition was possibly the most nerve racking thing ever. We had to go into the studio in groups of five (luckily we were all together) perform a solo piece and a piece that we had been taught at the beginning, and then answer some questions. There were about 30 girls auditioning, and only 5 of those would get the job. All the girls seemed nervous, except from me. I was bouncing around the room like an exited puppy. The group before us came out smiling and jumping around, which made us think that they had a good chance of getting the job. A man in a black suit came to the door and called our names. We all exchanged hugs and supporting smiles, before walking into the studio.
PART 3
Inside the studio there were three men, and a woman who I recognized as Jayne, The Wanted’s manager. I took a deep breath. We took our places on the dance floor. The music started playing and the choreographer counted us in. We launched into a high speed routine, throwing our bodies around and sliding across the room in unison. As the routine finished, the four judges clapped and asked the other four to sit down. We then had to dance the solos that we had already prepared. Alice was first. She gave in her cd, took a spot in the centre of the room, facing the back, and the music started
Alice started dancing and we all sat against the mirrors watching her. Her routine was amazing, we couldn’t help but cheer and clap at the end, which luckily made the judges smile, as they could tell that we got along. Cassie was next, followed by Chloe, then Lucy. It was my turn next. I gave in my cd, and took my place on the floor.
The next two minutes of my life went really quickly, and before I knew it, my time was up and my friends were applauding me. Everyone’s routines were amazing! We then had to stand in a line on the floor in our performance order. We all held hands and squeezed them to show support to each other. One of the men got a clipboard and a pen, and looked up at Alice.
“So Alice, why do you think you deserve this job?”
“Well...I’ve always wanted to be a dancer since I was a little kid, and I thought that this would be a perfect opportunity.”
“Okay and Cassie, have you had any previous training prior to this audition?” She took a deep breath.
“Yes, I have been in dance training since I was three, and I have just finished a dance course at college.”
The man went down the line, questioning each of us on our interest in dance and previous experience. When his eyes turned to me, I suddenly felt a nervous feeling in my stomach.
“And Rachel, why did you pick this specific job to audition for?”
“I just get a buzz out of performing ya know? So this would be an amazing opportunity to progress that into a full time job. I am also a huge fan of The Wanted, so it would be an honour to dance with them.” The man asking questions nodded and Jayne smiled at me. The four judges then went into a group and started murmuring. I looked down the line at me friends and grinned, and they all smiled nervously back, as we waited to find out how we did.
