Walking amongst the crowd of citizens Eva kept a steady pace as she saw a free taxi in sight pulling up to the curb, with twenty dollars in between her slender fingers, she hurried over to the cab and jumped in. Upon entering the cab she came in contact with someone, a tall, slender man dressed in a dark suit with red and pink accents faced her, with his dark sunglasses complimenting his angular features.
"Excuse me, Miss." the man said with a deep French accent.
"Sorry about that," Eva replied.
"Where are you guys headed?" the cab driver abruptly intervened.
"Steelport." the man replied as he handed the cab driver a one hundred dollar bill. "And make it quick." the man added.
"And you Miss?" the cab driver asked.
"Stanton, but we can take his destination first," Eva replied as she sat back in the seat, glancing in the man's direction.
"Steelport it is then." The cab driver announced as he pulled away from the curb and out onto the street.
Eva glanced at the man from time to time, she noticed he was wearing black gloves and had a pink star pin on his coat, he appeared very wealthy, she focused her attention to the window as the man caught her glancing at him.
"Is this your first time going to Steelport?" the man asked.
"Yes, I never heard of Steelport before, I didn't even know there was a city with that name," Eva replied.
"Steelport is kind of like Las Vegas, but much more sinful." the man replied. "If you don't mind, I'll be happy to show you around the city." the man added.
"Sure, maybe just a quick tour then I need to head back home," Eva replied looking at her watch.
Eva's muscles tensed up as the man's knee slightly touched hers, she could feel the warm metal of her switchblade in her coat pocket. She always carried a switchblade whenever she traveled to dangerous parts of the city, she never had to use it, but it was better to be armed than to be sorry in her case. Another hour passed until they finally reached the gateway to enter Steelport. From the view of the window, the city looked somewhat beautiful in the moonlight, and kind of similar to New York but with less grunge.
As the cab driver pulled into the city, the man told the driver to take them to the town square for an extra two hundred dollars, in which the greedy cab driver agreed and drove them to a flashy section of the city, it looks better than the grungy neighborhoods and chemical plants they passed along the way.
