Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when it's a loved one who passes away. You feel like a part of you has died with them and nothing will be the same again.

"Dec, love wake up" Anne said going in his childhood room "Mam is it time" dec said and it pained him to say it and he nearly started crying "I don't wanna say goodbye, he's meant to see me get married" Dec said with his voice trembling and sat up "I know love I know, it's okay we'll all be there Ant and everyone" his mum said and hugged him "come on I need my boy looking smart" she said and kissed his cheek and went back downstairs and Dec just looked to the ceiling "promise you'll always be here" he whispered and closed his eyes and seen his dad smiling but when he opened them his dad was gone.

At the church
Dec was walking outside the church not wanting to go in but he had to, he never thought he'd have to say goodbye to his dad he thought he be alive forever, how wrong was he. "Declan mate come on we're going in" Ant said coming up to Dec and he was faced with a lifeless, drained red eyed and tear stained Dec "I want him back I don't want to say goodbye I want my Dad" Dec said angrily "this is shit I just want my dad" he added and stormed passed Ant into the church. ant didn't know how Dec would get passed this he'd never seen him like this. Half way through Dec was asked to say a few words "please pet for me" his sister said to him "aye Doolittle go on" Martin said trying not to cry 'go on lad you can do it' Dec heard his dad say in his head so he wiped his tears and went up to the mic "my dad" Dec said and smiled "my dad was the best, he wasn't always there due to work but when he was it was magical he was the life and soul of everything" Dec said and felt he was going to break down but carried on "he never complained never, he'd take us everywhere especially St James Park we'd get a coke and pie at half time, he used to sing me to sleep when I wasn't well, Eamon used to take the mick but it was special to me. Us brothers and our sisters knew he was always there for us and we hope he still will be" Dec said and broke down and martin and Eamon rushed up to him "it's okay baby bro we'll finish it" Eamon said and hugged Declan tight and Dec wouldn't let go of him "to sum it up basically our dad was our hero he was and still is everything to our family, he's what kept us together all the fighting between him and Mam is what added to how special our family is, we're donnellys we argue but we love each other to pieces" Martin said being able to hold it together and they all went and sat back down. Dec cried the whole way through he was inconsolable.

After the service
Eamon, Marin and Dec were walking along the beach not far from the house, it's where their dad used to take them to just sit on the rocks and look at the stars "what happens now" Dec asked like a small kid again "now Declan we look up to the sky and dad is looking back at us and this is where we say our final goodbye" Martin explained as they all laid down on the rocks and looked up at all the sparkling stars. After a few hours Marin and Eamon had said their final goodbyes and headed back home leaving Dec looking at the sky and he pulled out the ring his dad left him and put it on his right hand and kissed it and looked back up at the sky "goodbye dad love ya to the moon and back" he said and winked at the sky and picked up his jacket and put it over his shoulder and walked back along the beach to shortly arrive home to all the chaos...
