Korra arrived home in the midnight blue jacket she had taken from her mother as a part of rememberance. She was dreading seeing Asami, knowing that the dark haired mechanic would wonder where she had been.
Asami had been crying, the white around her brilliant green eyes a soft red color, and her cheeks stained with the tracks of her tears. She sat on the edge of the bed, a shaft of moonlight illuminating her black hair as another tear fell onto the note from korra she was clutching in her hands, causing the writing to bleed together.
Korra slid off of Naga slowly, wringing her hands out in a nervous gesture. She walked slowly to the front door, her muscles still stiff from being buried under the snow.
Asami lifted her head quickly as she heard the front door open, and muffled steps shuffle through the house. She stood up slowly, her heart pounding with the thought of Korra finally coming back home safe. As she slowly moved through the house, she stopped when she saw the stormy eyed avatar standing in the doorway between the kitchen and the hall.
Korra stood still, her body stiff and her breathing still as she lashed out at herself mentally for causing her wife enough pain to turn her brilliant green eyes dull and cloudy.
Asami moved forward in one quick move, tackling the slightly younger girl. She began crying again as tears dripping onto Korra's face and warm kisses were placed anywhere they could fit.
The mechanic held her wife's face in her hands, looking deep into her blue colored eyes, the ones she knew she could get lost in. As she spoke, her voice was quiet and resembled a whisper.
"Where have you been.....? I've been so worried about you..."
Korra placed a hand against one of Asami's that rested against her cheek and took a mintue to think of what she was going to say before she actually spoke. Her voice was quiet, too, but instead of being worried, it was timid, hesitant.
"I took Naga pretty far out and got stuck in an avalanche. If it wasn't for her tracking skills....I might not be here right now. I had a lot of stuff on my mind, and I...ran away."
Asami stared at her wife's face, her eyes searching the others to try and find some way to help her. She sighed softly and broke the gaze, looking out one of the windows that had been forgotten about, leaving the curtain open. Her voice was worried once again, and confused.
"Why don't you talk to me about these things anymore Korra....? How am I supposed to help you if all you do is run away from your problems?"
Korra's chest moved up slowly as she sighed deeply, her jaw moving slightly as she thought of what to reply to the mechanic.
"I don't always want to bother you with my problems. Most of the time it's just anxiety getting to me.."
Asami gently turned Korra's face so that they were looking at eachother, her green eyes staring into Korra's.
"Korra, that's what couples do. That's what being married is about. When I married you, I married you for better or for worse. I didn't marry you for you to carry your problems by yourself, I married you because I love you and 'want' to know when you're having issues so that I can help you."
Korra bit her lip as her eyes filled with tears, her body shaking softly as she began to break again. She felt the mechanic pull her close into an embrace and hold her tightly.
Asami rubbed her wife's back, her own eyes spilling with more tears despite the length of time she's already been crying. Rather than lying on the floor, she coaxed Korra to move to the couch where they could lay together.
