Indifference

Korra sighed, laying against the bank behind her old house. She had currently been there for a few weeks while Asami was away, and had gained an attitude of indifference. She didn't really care if she was hiding things, and didn't care if Asami found out.

Bolin had been staying with the officer, trying to get her to lighten up a bit. Considering they had just been through a wild ride the month before where Lexa had went nuts and taken Asami, no one wanted to leave either of them alone.

The blue eyed nurse Kya, smiled as she watched Korra completely relax for the first time in the sun. The younger officer reminded her a lot of Lin, who was also currently on a business trip, only hers involved the risk of being killed. Kya frowned as that thought took her previous calm mindset and threw it into a sea of panic.

Bolin rested his hand gently on Kya's shoulder and smiled softly at the nurse, trying to help her relax. He was getting back to being his normal, soft hearted self. He knew he couldn't blame himself forever about his brothers death, and it would've made it worse for everyone had he kept moping.

Korra got up and laughed as her dog Naga jumped on her and pushed her back down, giving her big slobbery kisses. She pushed Naga off and rubbed her face on her shirt roughly, trying to get the slobber off.

"Naga you big goof, this was my favorite shirt!"

Korra laughed as Naga barked and wagged her tail.

Korra pushed the strong dog off her and got up, brushing grass from her back. She shook her dark short hair out and took a deep breath, smelling the clean air.

Lin snarled at the man who was wearing a dark smirk on his face, the flash of a dagger in his hand as he circled the stoic police chief.

"I don't have all damn day, let's get going!"

Lin snarled the words as she lunged at the stronger man, rolling over as his body slammed against the concrete and he let out a pained noise. She rolled to her feet and put him in a rock wall encasement.

To his advantage, he happened to be a lava bender. He rose the ground under his feet as a red eerie light cast over his face, illuminating the dark smirk his face held. He rushed the thick chunks of lava and rock forward, trying to drown the chief out.

She saw his attack coming from miles away as she launched herself off the ground and landed with a slam behind him, throwing dagger like rocks into his back.

He yelped in pain as blood dripped down is back from the impact of the rocks against his skin and fell, earning a mouth of dirt.

Lin picked the man up by his shirt and hauled him to her police cruiser, driving back to republic city.

"You're gonna be locked up for a long time, don't think you'll have any chance getting out."

As she entered the prision, she looked over at the cell that had held its most prized prisoner for years. The Great Uniter.

Kuvira was hunched against the wall, shaking from an intense fever. The other inmates didn't favor her, and if she tried to speak out she suffered a beating. The nickname given to her was "the machine" because she never showed any expression towards what was said or done.

Lin sighed and entered the cell, sitting behind the jailed woman.

"W-What do you want? Here to deliver another beating?"

Lin cringed and sighed, gently pulling at Kuvira. She took the weak, frail woman in her arms and started the work of cleaning her up.

The chief had never been soft towards anyone other than Kya, but Kuvira was the exception. Her sister suyin had been too hard on putting Kuvira into this prision when she knew the risks, disowning the girl was bad enough.
