"Bradley?" I tentatively shouted, "I'll be back in the very near future. I'm guessing Harry comes here often, and if he's here, so am I. I'm going to kind of quote Titanic here: if he jumps, I jump."
"I don't care about YOU! I just want Aurora," I heard Bradley mutter.
Bastard, how dare he not care about me.
"I care about you though," Harry whispered, kissing my hair. "I care about you so much. You have no idea."
* * * * *
I looked around me and sighed, at peace with the world for once. Aurora was sitting beside Harry, gnawing on a piece of buttered bread. Harry sat opposite me, offering me a strawberry that was rich in colour and sweet in taste. Harry placed the strawberry in my mouth and I bit down on it, letting the juice run down my chin. I picked up the napkin at my side and wiped my chin.
"Sweet," I said.
"Aww, thanks, babe," Harry said, flicking his hair as best as he could. He did it in such a girly manner; I couldn't help but laugh at him. Harry had soon joined in and, feeling left out, Aurora started giggling, clapping her hands together and bouncing where she sat on a tartan rug. Of course, Aurora's reaction to us laughing set us off more, making AURORA laugh louder, making HARRY AND I laugh louder, making... Well, you get the picture.
"Harry, can we please be serious for a second?" I asked. Harry nodded solemnly and looked at me. "You said when we were at the treehouse that you were a broken man. How?"
Harry opened his mouth to speak, but I silenced him. "No, I've changed my mind. I don't want to know. Not yet. I want to know the good things about you first. Tell me everything about you - and I mean EVERYTHING!"
"Okay," Harry said, sighing. "My full name is Harry Robert James and when I was in Year 7 I got teased all the time for being the freak with three first names. My parents are called Stephanie and Rob and they split up last year. I live with my Dad because my mum is currently living in France with her Australian partner, Linda. I have one brother and one sister. You've already met Bradley and I have a fourteen-year-old sister called Haley. She's amazing and she's there for me whenever I need her. Bradley, Hayley and I are very close; we had to be in the lead up to my mum and dad's split. Some children don't have anyone to turn to when their parents argue and you hear them smashing plates against walls, hitting and swearing their heads off, but we had each other and managed to get through it, completely sane. I play rugby - I'm the hooker. Don't laugh, Abi, it's not funny!"
I couldn't help but laugh when he told me he was the hooker. Ha, I always guessed that about him!
"Shut up," he muttered. "I also bake. I love cooking. It's a secret passion of mine, so don't tell anyone. Also, I talk in my sleep, I'm scared of heights and I find the silver lining in every cloud."
"Tell me more about your sister."
"She's fourteen, as I've said. She has brown hair and green eyes. Her favourite colour is green and she is a passionate ballet dancer. She plays the violin and sings beautifully. She's also learning the piano and can play the guitar when required. Oh, Abi, she has the most amazing smile and it just lights up the room. The pleasure in making her happy, it's amazing. I love her and I don't want any harm to come to her. She's been awfully protected from the outside world by Bradley and I because she's so precious to her. But we eased off a few years back. It's a shame though, because she really needs a woman in her life to talk to boys and the like about. With no mum around, she doesn't have anyone else. Both our Grandmothers died and our Auntie Patty doesn't talk to us anymore. It's a shame, because Auntie Patty is loaded, so I would've liked to be on her will seeing as my other siblings are going to be rolling in cash with all their artistic talents."
