Everyone turns silent. Even the kids stop playing and running. This is starting to get annoying.

I look at Adam out of confusion but he still seems shocked by my actions earlier. I clear my throat and drag him to the food that's on the counter. I guess the smell of food brings him out of his shock because he grabs a plate and fills it to the brim. I grab toast, a fried egg, and bacon with some orange juice and sit down at an empty seat at a random table.

"Hey Everest, didn't see you at training today, what, already slacking on the second day?" I hear a voice to my right startling me. I turn my head fully to see Madison sitting to my right.

I put a hand to my pounding heart and give Madison a playful glare, "Madison you do realize I'm blind in this eye, right?" I say pointing to my right eye, "So please refrain from talking until you make your presence known so I don't get a heart attack at 19." I chuckle lightly as she gives me wide eyes.

"Oh I'm so sorry Everest it never even crossed my mind." She apologizes.

"It's fine, so anyway how was training without me?" I question starting to eat my food. I look up and turn to her lack of response to find her picking at her food.

I let out a breath, "You didn't train, did you?" I question putting down my fork and facing her. She shakes her head making me grab her , "Why?"

"I just can't be around that many people ever since-" she halts talking as a tear slips from her eye that I wipe away. "I don't feel safe at any time without you, or Dean." Dean? I decide to question her on that later before responding to her.

"Well, that's the whole reason I'm making you train. It's tough love, I'm giving you a chance to feel safe, to know that the next time you're in danger, you won't need me or anybody else, because you will be able to protect yourself. That in itself brings self-confidence and you'll look totally bad ass." I say making her laugh.

"Now eat your food so I can." I state continuing to eat.

I look up when I smell Killian enter the room taking my full attention, I look at him quickly taking in his fitted black t-shirt, black jeans, completed with a pair of sneakers.

He takes a seat at the head of his table with Adam seated on his left both staring at us then do I notice Olivia isn't sitting in the seat next to him. I turn to Madison as she takes a sip of water, "Where's Olivia?" I question inconspicuously.

"Oh she left this morning on one of her monthly vacations." Madison answers. I give her a nod of understanding, continuing to eat my food reminiscing on our almost kiss, yesterday. Did he tell her? Is that why she left? Probably not, his behavior doesn't seem like he just lost the love of his life.

Love.

It gives a whole meaning to me, since I never experienced it a lot, I can pin point it very easily. Like when Madison texts on her phone and has a glint in her eye, probably from the boy she's texting: Dean.

How Adam bobs his knee up and down looking towards the door waiting for his mate to enter. The mother at the table next to me eating but keeping a watchful eye on her child playing with the others making sure he's safe.

All these signs show our love for someone but when I look at Killian, he doesn't look upset or even slightly sad. He sits there drinking his coffee oblivious to Adam not even paying attention to him talking. Maybe the fact that he has been around love so often he can't distinguish what is love and what is something else, like whatever he feels for Olivia, because I know that if he truly loved Olivia there wouldn't have to be a choice between me and her, and that goes for his feelings for me too.

I look towards the door when a man walks in, he had dark hair and big green eyes, with a cleft chin. He looks very familiar but I can't put my finger on it. I watch as he walks up to Adam giving him a kiss on the cheek as he sits next to him. I guess that's his mate. I look towards the door as I notice the familiar blonde head of Dean walk in as we make eye contact. I give him a short nod as he walks over to our table putting his hands over Madison's eyes.

"Guess who?" He questions smiling.

"Hey Dean." She smiles brightly peeling his hands off her eyes as she stands giving him a tight hug that he warmly accepted.

"Hey Madison." He smiles greatly as he remembers I'm still here he looks towards me. "Morning Everest." Madison finally turns away from Dean looking back at me.

"Oh Everest you know Dean?" She questions not being able to hide the slight suspicion/jealousy in her tone.

"Yeah I visited him to talk about the rejection ceremony." I watch as her face morphs into relief and curiosity making me smile in amusement as a blush spreads across her face.

"Wait, rejection ceremony? Oh my god are you rejecting your mate?" She questions sadly as Dean wraps his arm around her shoulders unconsciously comforting her. I then realize only a select few know who actually is my mate.

"Yeah I am, but let's not talk about it now, I have to meet Adam's mate so see you later." I get up and head over to the table not before Madison turns to Dean curiously as they talk animatedly, but our eyes lock and I wiggle my eyebrows playfully as he he gives me a slight glare before turning back to her. He puts his arm behind her chair and eats off her plate as they smile and laugh.

I'm starting to wonder if they're actually just friends because it seems like the only people who don't think they're a couple is them. I walk up to Adam avoiding Killian's eyes but that doesn't stop the feeling of his eyes on the side of my head as I stop at his side. "So is this the mate that I've been hearing about?" I question him gaining his and his mates attention.

"Oh yeah Everest this is Lorne-" Adam's interrupted by his mate who abruptly stands up, "Everest?"

I look at him confused at his surprise, "Um yeah, that's my name." I say laughing nervously at his demeanor.

He abruptly is standing in front of me, giving me a clearer vision of him, those green eyes, they reminded me of my fathers, and I think for the first time in a long time, I was a little scared. He reaches and touches my face lightly brushing his fingers over the ghost scars on my face. Killian stands pushing his hand away as he puts his arm around my waist pulling me to him, in an act of protection.

I squint at him as I finally recognize him. I take a step back away from the man feeling my back hit Killian's chest as his heart beat starts to pick up, and the man continues staring back at me, he looks different but then again it has been 8 years since I saw him last, I put my hand over my mouth smothering the gasp that's trying to escape from my lips.

Killian immediately fusses over me, "Everest what's wrong?" but I don't answer because my focus is on someone else.

My voice cracks, "Jayden?"
