Chapter 12

Nicole's P.O.V

I had finally arrived at the airport and now I was just waiting to board the flight.

I was sitting in a seat near the gate with my bags, just on my phone and listening to music. I occasionally looked around the airport and I was suddenly brought back to the day I met Luke.

I flashed back to moment I first laid my eyes on him; how perfect I thought he looked, being scared that he'd catch me staring, the moment he sat down in front of me and I felt as if my heart stopped, those gorgeous blue eyes staring into mine, that smile that made my heart flutter, that accent that I wanted to just keep playing in my head. I never imagined that I would find my self having so many feelings for that boy.

I was falling hard for this boy and I felt like I could finally admit that to myself. I couldn't get him out of my mind. Being in this airport instead of in that warm bed, beside him, made me want to cry. All I could think about now was 'what is he doing right now?'. I can't imagine what I've done to him, how he's going to feel...I didn't even say goodbye to him. He's gunna think that I don't care, which is the last thing that I want to happen.

I quickly got on my phone and started typing a message to Luke;

Hey Luke, it's Nicole. I know that you're probably scared, worried, upset, angry, confused or all of the above because you woke up and I was just gone. I want you to know how sorry I am. I regret not saying goodbye to you but I want you to know that I didn't leave because of you. You didn't do anything wrong. Please don't worry about me. Go enjoy your time on tour and rock the hell out. Even though I've only known you for this short time, I want you to know how proud I am of you and...I've fallen for you Luke..

"Now boarding flight to Indianapolis, Indiana." I heard being announced over the speaker. I quickly hit send on the message and put my phone in my pocket. At first I didn't know what I was going to say to Luke, but it all just came out and I hoped it would be enough...

Luke's P.O.V

Me and the boys had already finished packing up and loaded our stuff onto the bus, but there was still one more thing I had to do before we left Florida.

"Can we make a quick stop before we leave?" I asked the guys as we all sat around the back of the bus.

"Sure, where?" Ashton asked.

"Jess' house."

They all looked at me with either shocked or confused looks on their faces.

"...because maybe Nicole went back there?" I finish.

"Oh, yeah sure!" Calum said as he went up to tell the bus driver.

Jess' P.O.V

I was just in my room when I heard the doorbell ring. I didn't know who it was so I figured my parents would get it.

"Jess! Are you expecting someone?" I hear my mom yell up to me from downstairs.

"I don't know mom, I'll get it!" I yell back to her as I quickly shuffle down the stairs towards the front door.

I swing the door open, expecting to see one of my friends faces but it turned out to be the last person I would think to see at my front door.

It was Luke.

"Luke?" I say shocked. "What are you doing here? Where's Nicole?"

"Well...thats actually why I came here. I thought she might be here with you.." He said looking down at the word 'she'.

"What do you mean? She's not with you?" I say still confused.

I motion for Luke to step inside and I lead him to a seat in the next room.

"So wait, you don't know where she is? What happened?" I ask Luke as we settle on a couch sitting across from each other.

"Well I just woke up this morning and she was gone. She told us last night that she was gunna come with us on tour but she just packed and left without saying anything, or where she was going." Luke said. I could tell that he genuinely cared about my cousin.

"Well if she's not here then there's only one other place she went. She went back home to Indiana."

"I figured that was the next place she would've went, but why would she just leave like that and not tell me?"

Luke looked really upset.

"Well Luke, theres some things I happen to know about my cousin", I say jokingly and I finally see a smile creep up onto his face. "But I think she might've did that because I know she's not good at hiding things or disobeying her parents. I mean you saw her when my parents where ganging up on her about the accident, she's not good under pressure like that. And theres another thing I think you should know about her, I know that she really likes you Luke. I haven't seen her like this in a long time. But she has a hard time admitting it and letting herself fall. She was in a bad relationship before, she used to tell me about it all the time. He treated her like crap and she hasn't been in a relationship since. She's afraid they'll all turn out to be the same. She's probably just scared Luke. But don't give up on her, she just needs time. And honestly, she needs you."

I wasn't sure how Luke would react to all this but I just looked at him for a second. He looked up at me and finally said "And I need her."

I got up from the couch and nudged his shoulder, "then what are you waiting for?! Go after her!" I said smiling at him.

He stood up and thanked me, giving me a quick hug and then rushing out the door.

As I saw him go, I suddenly felt the guilt rush back through me; how stupid I acted while Nicole was here, the shit I put her through. I couldn't just let her be happy with Luke, I was selfish and I had to make things difficult for her. They might not even be where they are now if it weren't for me. But I know Luke cares about her, he's not gunna just leave her. And I couldn't take that away from them.
