of the monsters
that were around you
so you shut yourself out
unaware
that they dwelt inside you
you were scared
to break free
of those chains that bound you
to take wing and soar
into the great unknown
you were scared
to express yourself
to let your emotions burst free
behind that dam of silence
so you kept them
walled up; unseen, unheard
you were scared
to embrace the world
